How to Fight a Matriarch

How to Fight

Fighting a Matriarch is the same as fighting the Slyzard. You will encounter both of them during the Contract: Bovine Blues. The best way to deal with the Matriarch is to force them to the ground and attack them right after stunning them. You can force them down to the ground by casting the Aard Sign or throwing a Grapeshot Bomb. Cast the Aard Sign during their fire breath or screaming attack to stun them temporarily and give yourself an opening to attack.

What Preparations to Make?

You should use your Silver Sword and coat it with Draconid oil to deal bonus damage to them. Prepare some Grapeshot Bombs to force them down to the ground incase they are flying. Cast the Quen Sign to protect yourself from their attacks. Both the Matriarch and the Slyzard are immune to burning and freezing so do not bother bringing bombs that can ignite them or freeze them.

Special Sign Effects

  • Aard - This will force them down to the ground when they are flying. This can stun them for a short duration giving yourself time to attack.
