| 1 | Head outside and down the stairs of the Nilfgaard Garrison. You will find a signpost and can use fast travel to warp to any other signpost you have found in the game. |
| 2 | You can either choose to go to the hunter or the herbalist. The order does not matter. After visiting both, you will hunt the griffin. |
Note: If you have already obtained a Buckthorn you will not have to go to the herbalist.
If you also found the attacked Nilfgaardian camp or the griffin nest, you will not have to go to the hunter.

| 1 | Travel to the hunter's hut southwest of the tavern. Knock on the door. |
| 2 | The hut will be empty, so use your witcher sense to find his footprints and follow the path to him, and speak to him. |
| 3 | You can tell him that you are in a hurry, and he will immediately lead you to the next location. |
| 4 | Use your Witcher Sense to find clues. Examine the bottle, campfire, blood splatter and footprints. |
| 5 | Use your Witcher Sense to follow the the footprints. Jump over the broken bridge and continue following the footprints jumping up the cliffs, until you reach the griffin nest. |
| 6 | Use your Witcher Sense to investigate the nest. Examine the corpse, pile of bones, and then the dead griffin. You will be awarded 500 Exp. |
Obj 2. When talking to the hunter, you can choose to help him kill a pack of wolves. After helping him, you can convince him to talk about his story, rewarding you with 350 Exp. after.

| 1 | Travel to the herbalist's hut. You can fast travel to the sawmill and go east to get to her hut. |
| 2 | Talk to her to find about Buckthorn. |
| 3 | Head to the riverbed north east of the hut. |
| 4 | Go into the water and dive under. Use your witcher sense to find Buckthorns. There are multiple of them there. |

| 1 | Head back the tavern and talk to Vesimir. Tell him you're ready to set the trap. |
| 2 | Head to field northeast of the tavern and talk to Vesemir. Tell him you're ready to start. |
| 3 | Vesemir will give you your first crossbow. Fight the griffin. |
| 4 | When the griffin's health gets low enough, it will fly away. Follow it and finish it off. |
| 5 | Loot the griffin corpse and obtain the Griffin Trophy. |
| 6 | Head back to the Nilfgaard Garrison and talk to the Nilgaardian Officer. |
| 7 | Choose not to take his money for bonus Exp. Points. |
Obj 2. When talking to the herbalist, you can ask her about the dying lady. It will unlock the secondary quest On Death's Bed.
Obj 7. Choosing to take his money will net you 150 crowns but only 300 Exp. Points.
After slaying the griffin, the Nilfgaardian commander will offer to reward you with money. You can choose to accept the reward or walk away without it.
Taking the money will reward the player with 150 Crowns and 300 XP.
Walking away from the money will reward the player with 500 XP.
It is recommended to walk away from the money. The player can find so many other ways to collect coin, while XP is mostly gained only through quests.

How to Make Money Fast
Using fast travel to get to locations near the objective can make things much quicker.
Grapeshots are good against the griffin. You can buy the ingridients to craft them from the herbalist. You should also use the Thunderbolt potion to increase your damage.
When the griffin is flying you can hit it with a bolt from your crossbow to bring it down to the ground. Your Aard Sign can do the same thing when in reach.
