Recommended Path to Get the Best Equipment

The path to getting the Best Equipment in the game can be different from one player to another. Some players prefer to defeat their enemies with swords, some with signs, and some just prefer being defensively capable of tanking the heaviest hits.

The common thing around these paths is that all of them involve using the full Witcher Gear from different schools.

The recommended path to get the best equipment is to do the Main Quests, Contracts, and especially the Scavenger Hunts. You should do the quests available in the region once your level is at least 4 level below the recommended level of the quest.

Below is the order in which the player can get the best equipment for each region up until the best equipment in the game.

Best Equipment in White Orchard

The best equipment available in White Orchard are the upgraded version of your starting armor, the Warrior's Leather Jacket, or the Temerian Armor Set which you can buy from the merchant you save from the Griffin.

Warriors Leather Jacket
You can get the Warrior's Leather Jacket by upgrading your starting armor from Willis, the dwarven armorer, after you finish the Side Quest: Twisted Firestarter.

Temerian Armor
You can get the Temerian Armor Set by purchasing it from the merchant after you saved him from the Griffin. Although, purchasing the Temerian Armor Set will cost you a lot of gold in the beginning.

The best swords you can have in White Orchard are both the Viper School Serpentine swords. You can get these by completing the Scavenger Hunt you receive after looting the Bandit Camp near the Ransacked Village.

After getting the diagrams you can get them crafted from the Quartermaster at the Nilfgaardian Garrison.

Best Equipment in Velen and Novigrad

The best equipment in Velen and Novigrad would be the Griffin Armor Set and the Feline Armor Set. You need to complete their respective Scavenger Hunts to get either of the armor sets.

The Feline Armor Set is the best equipment that you can use if they want to focus on using your swords for combat. Having this set will also give you a lot of attack power and multiple damage resistances to protect you from monsters and humans.

Best Equipment in Skellige

When you have reached Skellige, the Ursine Armor Set will now become the best equipment available. Just like the other Witcher Gears, you need to complete its respective Scavenger Hunt in order to get the diagrams for the armor set.

The Ursine Armor Set gives you a large adrenaline point gain bonus if you have equipped the full set. Having a lot of adrenaline point gain not just good for combat builds, it can also be very usefull when using sign builds if you have equipped the right skills for it.

It is important to remember that you should find the diagrams and enhance your currently equipped Witcher Gear Armor Set whenever possible.

Best Equipment in the Base Game

Once you are able to travel to Kaer Morhen, the best equipment available now becomes the Wolven Armor Set. This armor is considered as an all-rounder set and gives you bonuses on all of Geralt's skills.

It is also important to know that when you reach Kaer Morhen, you should have already completed the Side Quests: Of Swords and Dumplings and Master Armorers. Completeing these quests will allow you to craft the Mastercrafted versions of the Witcher Gears from Hattori and Yoana.

Best Equipment in the Whole Game

The best equipment in the whole game can only be found in the Toussaint Region. Players need to have the Blood and Wine DLC in order to get the best equipment in the game.
