Go to Serenity Island
Contamination, Yet a Trace is located in Serenity Island, and can be initiated by speaking to the Piecey Heathcliff beyond the arch, next to the Saltwrap Bathhouse Warp Spire.

Contamination, Yet a Trace Walkthrough
Explore the High Stonetree
Upon arriving at the Saltwrap Bathhouse, speak to Heathcliff standing past the archway. After a small discussion, the Pieceys mention someone named Macy who might have a lead on the infection plaguing the island.
Ask the Village Head of Steamville About the Situation
Head to the Crystal Salt Factory just below the Saltwrap Bathhouse and talk to Macy. She shares what she knows about the contamination's origins and her own findings. Afterward, she points Nikki toward Rita's Clinic where infected Pieceys are still undergoing treatment.
Go to the Doctor Piecey to Gather Clues
Head into the cavern from the Crystal Salt Factory and take the path leading to the right. Jump down the hole at the end of the path, and head straight toward the open area at the far end of the cavern, where there is a small pond.
Cross over the small pond and pull the lever to open the metal door into the next area. Continue forward and drop down to the lower floor, where you will find a door leading outside. Speak to Handy Rita afterwards and continue your investigation!
Ask the Infected Pieceys Engaged in Discussion
Speak to Gabby the Piecey by the hay piles to the left of the Patchwork Clinic Warp Spire. Interview the sick Piecey and determine that It's the Crystal Salt which might have affected their health. She then mentions that a Piecey named Shadow was the one who supplied them with afforadable Crystal Salt.
Ask Auntie Jasmine Talking to Murmur
Head to the right side of the Patchwork Clinic Warp Spire and speak to Auntie Jasmine with Murmur. The conversation further reinforces Nikki and Momo’s suspicion that the Crystal Salts they purchased and used are the root cause of the residents’ ailments. With this lead, the duo set out to find Shadow in Steamville.
Head to the Steamville Market to Find the Merchant
Drop down to the lower layer of the Stonetree from the Patchwork Clinic in order to reach the Steamville Market. Afterward, speak with Shadow who appears at the stall by nighttime, or interact with the stall to wait for them, and advance the time.
Ask to buy the Cheap fake ones from their Crystal Salt stock, and confront them about their contaminated inventory. Afterward, they mention that they get their Crystal Salts from an untouched salt mine.
Listen to What Murmur Thinks
Speak to Murmur at the edge of the Stonetree to hear her theory about Misty Peak and a possible encounter with the old Guardian. She believes a hidden passage in the untouched salt mines leading to the summit may have caused the contamination, and asks Nikki to help uncover the truth.
Tell Macy the Investigation Results
Teleport to the Saltwrap Bathhouse Warp Spire and keep walking to the right, towards the edge. Jump down to the Crystal Salt Factory and discuss your theories with Macy.
They entrust Nikki and Murmur with the task of investigating the abandoned cavern, and leaves the Crystal Salt Key in their capable hands. This marks the quest's conclusion, and initiates the next quest: Thunder Rumbles Through the Mist.
