How to Defeat Shemhazai

Points to Consider

  • Weak to Fire
  • Use Combination of Fira and Oil
  • Cause Disease and Silence
  • Random damage caused by skills
  • Magic CT0 causes drastically reduced casting time

In-Depth Battle Walkthrough

Shemhazai's attacks when you face off against her consists of the non-elemental attacks Devour Soul and Soul Purge. These are hard to battle against, since the damage dealt by them are randomly calculated. Shemhazai is, however, weak to Fire, while she suffers Normal damage when hit with other elements.

Your best bet would be to hit hard and fast with Fire. Spells that deal heavy Fire-element damage are a must, and a combination of Fira and Oil is always a good thing. Alternatively, you can go about using Fire-element weapons against her after casting Oil. Have Remedy or the Bubble spell ready, though, as her attacks can cause Disease and Silence. At 40%, she'll also cast Chain Magick, which drastically reduces her casting time. Finish her off with a Quickening chain when her HP reaches that level.

Shemhazai - Benefits of Use

Shemhazai is one of the many old demigods that were defeated at the Battle of Light. She was once a guardian of the Underworld, but shied away from that role in secret when Ultima announced her rebellion.

Being a defeated demigod of the Underworld, Shemhazai has access to potent Dark magic. She would even be a great ally against bosses who are aligned to White Magick or her fellow Espers who are Holy-element users, like Ultima, for instance. Shemhazai is fought at the Great Crystal, before the Occuria, and is part of the Espers who also serve as bosses in the main storyline. Once defeated, the player can summon her by activating her license on the License board. Her license costs 50 LP.

She is not weak to fire, the guide is wrong. She has a random weakness chosen at the start of the fight.
