Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca | Ashe does have a good strength stat but players should not consider turning her into a full-melee type of player. The Red Battlemage is a good choice for Ashe. This turns her into a spellcaster capable of defending both herself and her team. While the spells the Red Battlemage casts aren't as high (magick-wise) as those a White Mage or Time Battlemage possesses, it is still useful for a support caster for your main spellcaster. Additionally, she can make use of her strength stat wielding the maces that the Red Battlemage uses. |
Vaan | Vaan is another character that's more suited as a melee type, but putting him in the role of Red Battlemage isn't bad. The Red Mage wields maces with status effects; a high-combo character like Vaan can inflict punishing status effects on enemies while finishing them off. He could also choose to play support to other spellcasters like, for instance, Ashe and Penelo, during the heat of battle. |
Penelo | Penelo would absolutely thrive having both the White Mage and the Red Battlemage as her character classes. If the player so chooses, he can have Penelo take on the Red Battlemage as a Second License board job. It would make sense if the player wanted to keep Penelo solely as a spellcaster which can support herself and use someone like Ashe as an offensive type of character. |
Fran | Fran can adequately perform the role of a Red Battlemage, despite her other shortcomings. While not a tremendously strong Red Battlemage, she can more than averagely look out for other spellcasters in the party. Aside from that, Fran is a pretty decent mage wielder; she will be giving the opposing party fits of trouble if she manages to inflict status ailments during battle through the maces she uses. |
