| Shamash Review |
|---|
| Shamash is a strong main DPS unit that wants to stay on the field to activate his passive. With the ability to block attacks and good damage with the proper use of his passive ability, he is a great unit to invest on if your team lacks a main DPS. |

| Faction | Eme-an |
| Birthday | May 3, Year 27 |
| Background | |
| A member of Eme-an, he is the guardian and enforcer of law, carrying a stone tablet and shackles that even he cannot remove. Like the blazing sun, wherever he goes, people cannot help but lose the courage to hide secrets from him. His words carry the weight of law, so he usually remains silent. Resolute and decisive, he firmly believes he is the embodiment of law. | |
| First Story |
|---|
| Years ago, an unnamed young man was drawn into the Babel Library Fortunately, he successfully returned from the library When he left the library, the young man was already wearing a mask that covered half his face With Cosmos's approval, he joined Eme-an Over time, the young man demonstrated remarkable talent in laws, rules, and regulations, displaying maturity and sophistication far beyond his age. Gradually, the members of Eme-an began to seek his help with unsolvable problems, and his responses never disappointed Slowly, he became known as the enforcer and spokesperson of the law among the members At some point, the members of Eme-an began to call him by an ancient name—Shamash. In the now-lost ancient Obed language, Shamash symbolized the sun, wisdom, insight, and Just Verdict, a fitting name for one devoted to the law. |
| Second Story |
|---|
| To better fulfill his duties, Shamash set up a bronze box in the entrance hall of the Babel Tower Anyone could write letters about their difficulties or complaints and drop them in the box, whether anonymously or not, with no content restrictions Shamash intended to have everyone supervise, whether there were loopholes or in Just Verdicts in the law However, over time, the bronze box became filled with messages like:"Can we make Monday to Friday rest days and the weekend work days?" "Can we cancel the list of banned books? Weren't books written to be read?" "Please add a rule prohibiting eating cookies, nuts, and chips during work hours! This is Eme-an, not a hamster farm!" "Shamash, could you take off your bandages once? Just once, we all want to know if you're incredibly handsome or incredibly ugly!" |
| Third Story |
|---|
| To welcome Shamash into Eme-an, the members of Eme-an gave him a reed pen Shamash treasured the pen and rarely used it, being just as sparing with his words as with his writing He only used the pen once in front of everyone That day, after returning from a mission directly ordered by Director Cosmos, he came back to the Babel Tower, badly injured and as silent as always, leaving everyone unaware of what had happened to him In response to his friends' shock, concern, and greetings, Shamash's only reaction was to set down his stone tablet and crush part of it with his bare hands After breaking the Law, Shamash took out the reed pen and inexplicably used its supposedly fragile tip to carve deep words into the hard basalt: "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." The ink was the "blood" flowing from his wrist Everyone witnessed that Shamash's blood was golden like the sun, just like the other inscriptions on the stone tablet. |
| Fourth Story |
|---|
| The large stone tablet Shamash carries on his back is called the "Law Tablet." Its origin, like Shamash's past, is buried in silence with his sealed tongue However, Eme-an is a place where the most curious, knowledgeable, and insightful people in the world gather Here, every rumor might be the shadow cast by the truth One rumor about the Law Tablet is that Shamash visited an extremely ancient room in the library, which contained legal documents lost at the dawn of history These documents held countless unknown lies, truths, testimonies, and confessions The will and power of these texts merged to form the original "law" of humanity, manifesting as the Law Tablet. The golden chain linking the codex and Shamash's right arm cannot be broken, not even by Shamash himself This seems to be a restraint imposed by the Codex's own will, confirming what Director Erish said about "language, words, and thoughts having their own power." Several lines of text in the Codex are covered with gold paint and cannot be seen When someone asked Shamash what was written under the gold, they were met with silence Thus, another rumor emerged: those are decrees Shamash personally wrote for someone or something, only to be revealed in critical situations It seems that even under the sun, there are shadows and secrets. |

Shamash is a decent main DPS unit that's available for every new player to play since everyone gets at least one copy of him when starting out. Since his playstyle revolves around activating his passive and his enhanced basic attacks, prioritize increasing his Critical Hit Rate, Critical Damage, and his ATK to maximize his damage.
Solar Corona is his 10-piece mark of choice since activating his passive will stack the Critical Hit Rate buff quickly due to how fast his basic attacks come out. Dragon Essence is the next prioritized Ancient Mark because all of his damage is converted to the Charged damage type when activating his passive. Lastly, look to include Shining Star and Jade Crane to increase the charge rate and damage of his ultimate skill, respectively.

| Skill | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Law Embodiment | Shamash's passive skill. Most of Shamash's damage relies on activating his passive. All of his Basic Attacks, Charged Attack, and even the Activation damage increases with each level up. |
| Judgment Chain | Shamash's first skill. Players will be using Shamash's first skill to gain Rage aside from his Basic Attacks. |
| Conviction | Shamash's second skill. Players will be looking to use this to block enemy attacks and gain Rage quickly. Upgrading the damage is a bonus since you won't be relying on his skills to deal the most damage. |
| Solar Punishment | Shamash's basic attack. Its primary use is to generate Rage and not for damage. |
| Solar Flare | Shamash's ultimate skill. Not necessary to upgrade for Shamash since you primarily use his ultimate skill to swap to Assist characters. |
| Tooth for a tooth | Not necessary to upgrade for Shamash; only upgrade if you have spare resources. |
The skills listed here have been arranged in order of priority, with the topmost skill being highest priority.
Shamash relies on his passive skill the most. Since all of his attacks while it's activated are improved when upgraded, prioritize upgrading it over everything else. Upgrading his other skills are mainly to increase his overall damage but not necessary.

While Shamash benefits from most units that swap into him, he also benefits the most from teams that can fill up the Combo gauge quickly for a free passive activation.
At Talent Level 4, Shamash can set up activating his passive twice by activating Combo Burst then activating his passive again by using his first skill afterwards.

| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• His second skill, Conviction, is the only ability that can block enemy attacks. • Strong, easy-to-use damage rotations when his passive is activated. • Free unit that is given to you early on. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
|
• Reliant on activating his passive, Law Embodiment, repeatedly throughout the course of a fight. • If the last hit of his basic combo is interrupted, the player will not be awarded any Rage. • Needs to stay on the field to gain Rage. |
Shamash is a strong unit that is given to you for free early in the game. He can use his second skill to block enemy attacks and deal significant damage with his passive activated.
The only downside to Shamash is that you will have to rely on the enemy to attack you to gain Rage quicker, as opposed to other main DPS units that look to use their rotations then swap out.
Unlike other DPS units on the roster, Shamash is a unit that is able to block attacks and utilize his passive to deal more damage.
Use Judgment Chain to pull an enemy into your range to start your offense. Activating its second form, Radiant Judgment, is the skill that generates Rage.
Use Basic Attack Combos to gain Rage. Make sure to finish his combos, as interrupting the final hit of his combo string will not gain any Rage.
Use Conviction to block enemy attacks and gain Rage. Afterwards, use Just Verdict to deal damage and gain more Rage.
Additionally, reaching 100 Rage when using Conviction allows you to immediately activate your passive.
Use his first skill and his basic attack combos to reach 100 Rage. Additionally, use his second skill to gain Rage quicker.
Once you reach 100 Rage, use either of his skills to activate his passive. Activating his passive upgrades his basic attacks, charged attack, skills, to deal more damage.
With his passive active, use his upgraded basic attacks to pummel your enemies. Additionally, use your Charged Attack to close the gap against enemies.
| Combo |
|---|
| Judgment Chain → Radiant Judgment → Basic Attack x4 |
Use Judgment Chain to get close then Radiant Judgment to gain Rage. Then, finish off the rotation with your Basic Attack Combo to gain even more Rage.
This rotation rewards you with 50 Rage meaning you will need to use this rotation twice to reach 100 Rage. Upon reaching Breakthrough Level 1, the Rage gained is doubled, meaning you'll only need to use the rotation once.
It's important to note that getting interrupted on Radiant Judgment and the last part of your Basic Attack Combo will not reward you with any Rage.
| Combo |
|---|
| Conviction → Just Verdict → Judgment Chain → Skill 2 (Activate Passive) |
Blocking an enemy attack with Conviction then using Just Verdict gives you a total of 80 Rage meaning you'll only need to use Judgment Chain to reach 100.
You can either choose to use Radiant Judgment for more damage or immediately activate his passive by using his second skill that transforms into Law Embodiment when reaching 100 Rage.
| Combo |
|---|
| Conviction (Block) → Basic Attack (Activate Passive) |
Reaching 100 Rage when using Conviction gives you the choice to immediately activate his passive without going into the stone tablet shattering animation.
Doing this will immediately use the last part of his enhanced Basic Attack Combo and immediately activate his passive.
| Combo |
|---|
| Law Embodiment → Charged Attack → Basic Attack x5 |
While Law Embodiment is active, Shamash's enhanced Basic Attacks are considered Charged Attacks. His enhanced Charged Attack (Solar Edict) increases the damage of all of his Charged Attacks by 55% (85% if Potential 1 is activated) for 3.5 seconds.
To deal the most damage, use his Charged Attack first to strengthen the damage of all of his enhanced attacks.
After the first rotation, you can opt to use his Charged Attack twice then do another full Basic Attack Combo rotation to maximize his passive activation.
| Potential | Explanation |
|---|---|
| P1 | This increases the buff gained from Shamash's Charged Attack when his passive is active by 30%, making it the most important upgrade next to getting him to Breakthrough Level 1. |
| P2 | This increases his overall Light damage when his passive is active. Since you want to be with his passive activated at most times, any boost to his damage with it active will be important. |
| P5 | Seeing that the last hit of his enhanced Basic Attack Combo is the most damaging, strengthening it further improve his DPS. |
| P6 | Only necessary if you absolutely need a damage boost, as you wouldn't be relying on the second part of his Second Skill for damage. |
| P3 | Only there to increase the damage of his Ultimate Skill which is primarily used for switching out to other Assist characters. |
Some potentials were removed due to only being useful for Skill Enhancement or are still being assessed.
