EX stages in Black Beacon offer unique missions to players, ranging from character tutorials to boss rematches. In this guide, you will learn what EX stages are and how to start one of their missions.

What are EX Stages?

What are EX Stages

EX Stages provide special challenges for players and a way to familiarize themselves with the game's mechanics and characters. These stages also offer unique missions that will test your skills and mastery of the game.

How to Start an EX Mission?

You can start an EX mission by switching game modes and selecting a particular stage to play. Here is an example of how to start an EX mission:

select Start Battle
Tap "Start Battle" on the lower right of the home screen menu.

Select EX
This will lead you to a screen containing all game modes. Here, select "EX."

Character Tutorial
Each stage is unique, but for this example, we selected "Character Tutorial."

Black Beacon Azi
Here, you can choose between "General" to test the game mechanics or a specific character to learn their skills and combos.

In this case, we will test out Azi.

Start Character Tutorial
Once selected, tap the box beside a character's image and select "Proceed" to start its mission.

Missions in EX Stages

EX Missions

The EX stages have different missions, offering various challenges and rewards. Most of the missions can be unlocked by progressing in the Main Story or acquiring a specific character.

Character Tutorial

Here, you can learn the various combat mechanics of Black Beacon and practice characters skills and combos. Keep in mind that only obtained characters can be practiced in this stage.

Head Librarian's Authority

Head Librarian

Head Librarian's Authority offers training missions. The first three stages revolve around the use of Pendant Skills, while the fourth one returns you to a cinematic battle against a story boss.

Brute Force Mode

Brute Force Mode

In Brute Force Mode, you must earn points by eliminating enemies in a series of battle. Points multiplier can be increased by adding up to 7 buffs to your enemies. You can also add 1 buff to yourself but it will slightly decrease the point multiplier.

There are three difficulty levels to choose from: Regular, Complex, and Chaotic.

Echoes of the Past

Echoes of the Past

Here, you can challenge previously defeated bosses from the Main Story missions. Each boss have four difficulty levels with the fourth one being the most challenging fight.

Why Complete EX Stages?

Earn Rune Shards

Earn Rune Shards

Though only available as a one-time reward, all missions here reward you with Rune Shards upon first-time completion.

Since Rune Shards are essential for purchasing Lost Time Keys and Time-Seeking Keys to pull characters and weapons, completing these missions along with their unique objectives is highly beneficial.

Practice Pendant Skills

Practice Pendant Skills

If you want to practice Pendant Skills before progressing further in the Main Story or using them outside of chapter missions, you can test them in Head Librarian's Authority. There are different objectives to complete, each rewarding you with Rune Shards and other bonus items.

Test Character Skills and Combos

Test Character Skills and Combos

Instead of diving straight into battle, you can test your obtained characters and practice game mechanics in the Character Tutorial stage. This is especially useful if you want to test your character skills and combos or as an easy way to obtain Lost Time Keys.
