The Merge (crafting) mechanic in Black Beacon allows you to combine Breakthrough and Skill materials. This guide will help you understand how to merge these items and explain why this mechanic is important.

Merge Upgrade Materials

The game's merge mechanic allows you to craft rare Breakthrough and Skill Upgrade materials out of lesser-rarity upgrade materials, and it is unlocked at Seer Level 10. If you need upgrade materials that are harder to come by, you can rely on this method if you want to further increase the maximum level of your characters, their weapons, and their skills.

How to Merge Breakthrough and Skill Materials?

Merge Materials from the Home Screen

Select Settings
Tap on the hexagonal icon at the bottom left of the home screen menu.

Merge
Locate and select Merge right under the Sign-in option.

Merge menu
Select the materials you want to merge.

Merge Materials from the Character Menu

Select Character
Select Character from the home screen, which can be found in the bottom right part of the home screen.

Develop Character
Choose a character you prefer, then tap Develop on the bottom left.

Breakthrough Weapons Stats Skill
Select either Stats, Weapons, or Skill, and tap Breakthrough.

Breakthrough Material
Select the material with an insufficient amount.

Craft or Farm Materials
Tap Craft at the bottom center-right of the screen, which will lead you straight to the merge menu.

If you are out of materials to merge, you can also click the option under "Source". It will automatically show the mission or unlockable items where you can obtain the particular material.

Why Merge Upgrade Materials?

Rare Materials are More Difficult to Acquire

Acquire Rare Materials

Merging materials is particularly helpful since higher Breakthrough levels require rare upgrade materials. Some higher-rarity upgrade materials can only be obtained by merging. While some can be acquired as event rewards, farming more common materials and merging them is a more consistent and sustainable method to getting advanced upgrade materials.

How to Get Upgrade Materials

Speed Up the Breakthrough and Skill Level Up Process

Complete Challenge and Sweep

Instead of grinding side quests for advanced upgrade materials, you can grind low-grade materials through easy Resource missions to craft what you need in a matter of minutes. The only caveat is that this will consume more Clarity compared to grinding difficult Resource missions.

Make sure to complete all objectives of a Resource mission to unlock its Sweep option, which lets you automatically finish it without having to play it all over again.
