Ancient Marks in Black Beacon raise your characters' stats and give them other advantages in battle. Learn how to use Ancient Marks, how to get them, how to level them up, and even how to disassemble them with our guide.
List of Contents

Ancient Marks are Black Beacon's gear system that primarily raise your character's specific stats. These are hexagonal figures that come in different pieces totaling to (1, 3, 5, 10) and shapes that are made to fit into a 6x5 hexagonal prism for each character.
These shapes can be rotated and inserted into the prism to grant stat increases and other passive skills. Each Ancient Mark has a corresponding stat that it increases and is completely random when obtained.

Aside from stat boosts, larger Ancient Marks, specifically the 5-piece and 10-piece ones, also give special buffs to your character.
For example, the 10-piece Ancient Mark "Solar Corona" also increases your character's Critical Hit Rate further by 3% after dealing damage with a basic attack (this is stackable up to three times, but the buff is gone after your character uses a skill).
10-piece Ancient Marks are conditional buffs that require a specific scenario to grant its buffs, while 5-piece Ancient Marks give an increase to a specific damage type that does not stack.

While different Ancient Marks provide varying stat bonuses depending on the number of pieces it has, it will always add up to the same stat total regardless of level.
In the example given above, inserting different level 1 Ancient Marks that increase the Pierce stat will result in a sum of 55.1%.
Additionally, even with level 3 Ancient Marks, the Pierce stat will remain to capped at 55.1%, but will be accompanied by other stats.
A different extreme example would be having 30 1-piece Original Text increasing the same stat, which would equate to the same total.

When leveling an Ancient Mark, you combine two identical marks with different stat increases into one mark containing both stats.
For example, combining an Original Text (1-Piece) that increases HP and another Original Text that increases DEF will result in a singular Original Text that increases both HP and DEF.
Take note that the initial stat increase will always remain the same when leveling an Ancient Mark. An ideal maxed out Ancient Mark grants three different stats that a character benefits from, resulting in three different substats to have capped totals.
| 1 | ![]() Ancient Marks can only be given to characters at Breakthrough Level 2. Characters who are not there yet cannot equip Ancient Marks, and their Ancient Mark tab will be locked. |

| 2 | ![]() Get the character of your choice to Breakthrough Level 2. Remember that even Breakthrough Level 2 can be a considerable investment, so choose your character carefully. |
| 3 | ![]() If this is your first time getting a character to Breakthrough Level 2, Anzu will unlock the Ancient Mark tab for that character. |
| 1 | ![]() Choose an Ancient Mark from the left side of the screen (you probably have more than a few). |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Drag that Ancient Mark to the hexagonal space provided on the right. |

| 1 | ![]() There are two ways to level up an Ancient Mark. The first way is to select an Ancient Mark in your Warehouse and tap Level Up. |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() You can also select an Ancient Mark in the Character menu through their Ancient Mark tab (if you've already unlocked ancient marks for that character). Simply choose the Ancient Mark here and tap Level Up. |
| 3 | ![]() To level up an Ancient Mark, you must use a duplicate of the same Ancient Mark. The selected duplicate will be consumed in the process, but will result in an Ancient Mark that has both stat bonuses. |
| 1 | ![]() In a character's Ancient Mark tab (or the Warehouse's Ancient Mark tab), there should be an option for "Re-engraving". Select it. |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Select the Ancient Mark you want to re-engrave. |
| 3 | ![]() You will be shown the Ancient Mark's original buff. Choose any other Ancient Mark from the left side of the screen. |
| 4 | ![]() You will then be shown what buff your Ancient Mark will get after the process is done. The Ancient Mark that you chose on the left will be consumed, however, along with a "Re-carving Knife". |
| 5 | ![]() The only way to get Re-carving Knives is through the Pure Energy Bonus (battle pass). You will receive your first set of Re-carving Knives when you reach P.E Bonus Level 25, and you will only get five of them at most so re-engrave your Ancient Marks wisely. |
| 1 | ![]() To disassemble an Ancient Mark, go to the Ancient Mark tab of either a character or your warehouse, then select the Disassemble option. |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Choose the Ancient Mark you wish to disassemble into Seals of Fate. The bigger the Ancient Mark, the more seals you will get afterward. |
| 1 | ![]() You can also refund your initial Ancient Marks from leveled Ancient Marks. Similar to disassembling an Ancient Mark, go to the Ancient Mark tab of either a character or your warehouse, then select the Disassemble option. |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Choose the leveled Ancient Mark you wish to disassemble into Seals of Fate. You will then receive the individual Ancient Marks that were combined at no cost. |

The primary way of getting Ancient Marks is to buy them from the Fate Store, where you have to spend a special currency called Seals of Fate. You can get Seals of Fate by either disassembling Ancient Marks you already have or earning them through game modes like Threads of Fate.
Sometimes, you can get Ancient Marks as rewards for when you level up and play the game. These are typically the first Ancient Marks you'll ever get your hands on, but oftentimes you will have to buy Ancient Marks from the Fate Store to get Ancient Marks with the specific buffs you want for your characters.

One kind of Ancient Marks you should get are those that raise a character's Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage. This is important especially for DPS characters, as they will be able to deal more damage to enemies.
You can also get Ancient Marks that increase their Pierce stat so they can deal more damage to enemies with higher DEF.
