To Bait a Forktail... Main Objectives

| 1 | Search and track Eskel using your Witcher Senses. |
| 2 | Fight the Forktail with Eskel. |
| 3 | Chase after the Forktail and track it using your Witcher Senses. |
| 4 | Kill the Forktail inside the cave with Eskel. |
| 5 | Return to Kaer Morhen with Eskel. |
| 6 | If you choose to race with Eskel: Beat Eskel in a horse race. |
Choices
Objective 5 Choice: Racing back to Kaer Morhen
When returning to Kaer Morhen with Eskel, you can choose to either race with him or not.
Objective 6 Choice: Winning the horse race
You can choose to accept the reward after winning the horse race against Eskel. You will receive an additional 200 XP, Mountain Folk Boots, and Hanged Man's Venom Recipe.
Not accepting the reward will reward the player with nothing and does not affect anything in the future.
NOTE: This Choice is not available if you did not race against Eskel or if you did not win against Eskel in the horse race.
to Bait a Forktail... Race Reward
Accept the Reward
If you beat Eskell at the race, he will offer a reward. Accept it and you will receive an additional 200 XP, Mountain Folk Boots, and Hanged Man's Venom Recipe.
Decline the Reward
Geralt wil ask Eskel to buy him a round of drinks next time they meet. This does not have any benefits or affects anything in the game.
To Bait a Forktail... Tips and Strategies
Eskel's Location
EnlargeYou can go straight to Eskel's location by checking the map without bothering to track him using your Witcher Senses.
Combat Strategies
Forktail
- Drink the Golden Oriole potion to remove the effects of and become immune to its poison.
- Use the Grapeshot Bomb or the Aard Sign to make it stagger or fall down from flight and make an opening for yourself to attack.
- Coat your Silver Sword with Draconid Oil to gain bonus damage against it.
- You can use a Cat Potion to see in the dark when fighting it inside the cave.

During Objective 4, after killing the Forktail, you can use your Witcher Senses to find a half-buried chest that contains Diagram: Enhanced Wolven Gauntlets inside the cave.
