PvE Tier List Explanations

S Tier Class

Class Explanation
Tactical IconTactical ・Has access to the most number of primary weapons in the game, including the powerful Melta Rifle.
・Flexible due to possessing strong primary, secondary, and melee options.
・Increases overall team damage (up to 175%) against enemies caught with Auspex Scan via perks such as Precise Calibration and Expert Timing.
・Auspex Scan improves the team's situational awareness by revealing hidden enemies (especially Lictors), the only class with this capability.
・Accessible to beginners and veterans.
Sniper IconSniper ・Has the strong squad perk Squad Renewal for recharging the team's abilities.
Camo Cloak is best used regularly to help to de-aggro enemies, buff damage via Targeted Shot for range or Tactical Ambush for melee, and revive fallen teammates.
・Sniper weapons like Las Fusil are useful against Majoris enemies or higher especially against Zoanthropes.
・The most comfortable class to use against Chaos enemies.
Low Armour Class (two segments) can make the class challenging to handle when overwhelmed with Camo Cloak on cooldown.
・Viable for solo play on Ruthless with bots thanks to its ability's strong crowd control potential.

A Tier Class

Class Explanation
Heavy IconHeavy ・Provides ranged cover with Iron Halo.
・Specialized in consistently clearing group and dealing massive damage with high-powered ranged weapons, only requiring heat management instead of reloads.
・Has several strong team-oriented support perks such as Additional Supplies for more ammo and Conversion Field for Iron Halo to speed up squadmates' ability recharge.
Cannot use melee weapons so repositioning is a must for survival.
Vanguard IconVanguard ・Strong with the Melta Rifle due to the Vanguard's fast close-range access with the Grapnel Launcher.
・Has the good late-game team perk Inner Fire which restores Ability Charges with finishers.
Grapnel Launcher brings you close to one target, allowing fast access to close-range combat.
・Has a low Armour Class of two segments, so you really have to choose your battles.
Bulwark IconBulwark ・Great class for recovering team armour via Chapter Banner and restoring health with Invigorating Icon.
・Has access to the Power Sword for versatility and the Power Fist for a strong offense.
No access to primary weapons.
・Provides much-needed defense with their Storm Shield which can also be used for turtling and crowd control.
・Frontal attacks are blocked while sprinting since (shield is always up during that action).
・Accessible to beginners and veterans for melee play.

B Tier Class

Class Explanation
Assault IconAssault ・While fun to use, Assault requires a lot of late-game perk and skill investment to make it viable at higher difficulties.
・Can deal damage in a huge AoE with the Thunder Hammer's heavy attacks.
・Has a Jump Pack which is great for eliminating hordes of enemies, but requires late-game investment to be highly effective.
・Primarily a melee class with lesser defense than the Bulwark and having little defensive options against ranged attacks, so you have to practice parrying, evading, and choosing fights you can win.
No access to primary weapons.
・Requires high level perks like Zealous Blow to be effective.

Best Classes PvE Tier List Criteria

Criteria Summary
Horde Control Capability of handling hordes effectively and efficiently.
Flexibility Ease of use and consistent effectiveness.
Team Impact Has useful and effective team perks.
Weapon Access Has access to great weapons.

Select any of the criteria above to jump to that criteria's explanation.

Capability to Handle Hordes of Enemies

The Assault excels at a later level where it can spam Ground Pound with Zealous Blow for swarms.

Classes in higher tiers are evaluated to be capable of managing hordes effectively and efficiently. This accounts for the tools and perks needed for horde clearing, such as access to Melta weapons like the Melta Rifle or horde control perks such as the Bulwark's Focused Strength.

Operations are mostly going to revolve around managing multiple waves of enemies that may overwhelm even the most decorated of soldiers, so having horde control and clearing capability is the highest.

Class Flexibility in Teams

Bulwark Chapter Banner

The capability of the class to slot in teams when playing the Operations game mode is also considered. This means they are easy to use and consistently effective throughout several missions.

Having a flexible class enables you to join any team and complete missions reliably regardless of team composition.

Class's Impact on Teams

Space Marine 2 - Impact on Team Gameplay

The overall effect and team synergy capability of the class will affect the success of the team as well. It is best to see if a class has useful and accessible team perks such as the Bulwark's Invigorating Icon bringing members back to full health or abilities that boost overall team damage such as the Tactical's Auspex Scan.

Classes that have high team synergy are usually extremely valued in teams and can even be the factor in consistently being victorious in Operations mode.

Class's Access to Good Weapons

Access to Good Weapons

Some classes in Operations have access to great weapons such as the Melta Rifle. While they're not the sole basis for making a class good, they impact how well a class can perform in clearing hordes or elite enemies.

When taking a look at a class, make sure to examine how the weapon pairs also with the class itself and its overall set of class perks. The Las Fusil, for example, excels at killing Majoris and tougher enemies, but is limited only to the Sniper, a class with high mechanical demand.

Assault is played wrong by most people. I have mine at level 25 and every mission on Ruthless I have top damage top kills and top specials etc. If you play the Ground pound build you jump from pack to pack AoEing all the little mobs down instantly, couple swings with the Thunder Hammer and the elites and able to be executed. Now you have a 25% damage boost, into the next pack and you 1 shot most stuff. If you focus on going for ranged targets and keeping enemies off your Heavy you are so useful.

Vanguard is at least an A or maybe even S with the team buffs of 15% ability recharge, and the melta is currently meta, absolutely shreds. Assault should be B or maybe even C, its completely gimped in chaos missions, and what it does, a skilled vanguard player does better. Source: level 20 plus in most classes, level 10+ in others.
