All Multiplayer Game Modes for Space Marine 2

There are three distinct game modes in Space Marine 2, all of which allow for multiplayer.

  2. PvE Operations (3-Player)
  3. PvP Eternal War (6v6)

How to Play Campaign Co-op

Campaign is the default mode you start in when playing the game for first time. Game modes can be switched by interacting with the console in the Battle Barge.

Playable Solo or up to 3 Players

The narrative campaign is playable solo or with up to 2 more friends for 3-player co-op. In this mode, you play as Lieutenant Titus and his battle-brothers Chairon and Gadriel, as you immerse yourself in the game's narrative.

Campaign saves and progression persists whether you play solo or co-op. This means that you do not have to worry about retaking missions or checking back for dataslates if you came from a co-op campaign session.

Played in 6v6 Teams

Eternal War is Space Marine 2's competitive PvP mode, where you can engage in team-based 6 vs 6 player combat. In each team, players choose 1 of the 6 available classes, allowing up to 2 of the same class in a team.

Unlike the two other multiplayer modes, Eternal War matchmaking has no crossplay.

All Eternal War Modes

There are three game types under Eternal War, each with different mechanics: Annihilation, Seize Ground, and Capture & Control.

Annihilation Team Deathmatch: Two teams compete against each other. Each takedown earns your team 1 point. The first team to reach 50 points wins the match.
Seize Ground Domination: Two teams compete to keep control of one zone that’s moving throughout the match. Keeping control of the zone grants your team points. The winner is the team that reaches the total amount of points given.
Capture & Control King of the Hill: There are 3 specific zones in the arena and each team fights to control them. Gaining and keeping control of a zone grants your team points. Be the first to obtain a certain amount of points to win the match.

How to Access Sparring Area

Access Lower Area Beside the Thunderhawk

How to Access Sparring Area

The area can be accessed alone or with squadmates.

To access the Sparring Area, look for a ramp at the back of the Thunderhawk in the Landing Bay (has a yellow sign that says Sector D2) that leads into a corridor to a lower area. Going into the room at the end of the corridor will allow you to use your currenlty equipped loadout.

The Sparring Area was added in the Season One Free Update patch on September 26, 2024. This allows you to go on a temporary fight with your squadmates aboard the Battle Barge to test out weapons in a PvP environment.

Patch Notes and Updates

Lets You Test Weapons in PvP

So far, the Sparring Area only serves to test your currently equipped weapons against another player in a PvP setup. Abilites are not available to use in this area.

There is no time and respawn limit in the Sparring Area, so all members are free to fight each other at their own pace.

Does Space Marine 2 Have Crossplay?

Crossplay is Supported for PvE Only

Space Marine 2 has full crossplay for PvE modes, which means that players from Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will all be able to play the campaign and Operations mode.

However, due to fairness and balancing aspects, crossplay for PvP has been limited; PC players can only fight against other PC players, and console players can only fight against other console users.

Is Space Marine 2 Crossplay?

Crossplay Can Be Disabled

Space Marine 2 Crossplay Option

Crossplay functionality can be temporarily disabled by going to the Settings menu then looking for Crossplay under the Game tab and switching it to Off you wish to play only with people on the same platform.

yeah apparently this isn't an option yet, the 1 reason I paid for early access was to play with my brother who is an enormous 40k fan, currently there is no option on adding a bot or at least I cannot find one. PVE Co-op only supports rando's.

If you're playing with 2 players an Ai plays player 3. Does anyone know if and how you change P3's class?
