Description: | |
Arthur is having trouble getting his hands on the Defender chip he needs for developing new chips. After listening to his woes, you can't help but want to lend a hand. Head to the Junker's Market in Merrick to find some leads. |
Objective | |
---|---|
1 | Talk to Junkers for Information After talking to Arthur about a pre-update chip, follow the quest marker to the Merrick Junker Market. You will talk to a group of Junkers until you reach Ritra, a seasoned junker. Ritra will point you toward the Merrick Battleship for a broker's fee if you find the Defender. |
2 | Talk to the "Friendly" Defender Dredging your way through the battleship, you will find a docile Defender. After booting it up, it will introduce itself as SL005-Z and begin speaking to the party, albeit in a snarky tone. After a short conversation, Ritra will abruptly shut down SL005-Z and remind you of the deal as he leaves the battleship. |
3 | Navigate Your Way Out of the Battleship Finding your way out from the battleship might be tricky, especially if you forgot where you came from. From your starting position, follow this map. |
4 | Pay the Junker 10,000 Zeni After getting out of the battleship, you will find the junker who bagged SL005-Z out front. You cannot negotiate the broker's fee here, so you must save and pay 10,000 Zeni to proceed to the next objective. |
5 | Decide What to Do with SL005-Z Paying the 10,000 Zeni will now prompt you to either dismantle SL005-Z or give up on the chip. The choice here significantly changes the outcome, so choose wisely! ▶︎ Should You Go On or Give up on the Chip? |
6 | Report Back to Arthur Whether you have the pre-update Defender chip or not, you will report back to Arthur in Spino. |
The best choice for the A Playful Find
side quest is to give up on the chip. Both options give out the same reward, new EX Chips. Choosing the Go On option will dismantle SL005-Z and leave a bad taste in Beelzebub's mouth.
However, choosing to give up on the chip will save SL005-Z. SL005-Z will give out a spare pre-update chip as thanks, which gives out the same results as dismantling him but with the addition of a snarky bot as a resident! After the quest, you can find SL005-Z in the Lost Oasis.
