List of Contents
The recurring swordsman from the Final Fantasy series makes a return in Final Fantasy XII. In here, he is a duelist, a sword collector, and a thief
of sorts, as he collects the swords of those he defeated in battle.
As in the series, he is accompanied by Enkidu, and goes into battle with his trusted companion. The player faces Gilgamesh two times, with the second one being the more difficult encounter.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu rides into battle with quite some buffs. These buffs always renew whenever he pulls out a new sword during battle.
He has a few phases where he beocmes stronger; at 40% HP, at 30%, and at 20%, where he pulls out replicas of different swords, representing augments in his strength.
At the second phase of the battle, Gilgamesh will use magicks such as Lv.2 Sleep or Lv.4 Break. It is here that he uses Bitter End, which has a chance to inflict Sap on the party, and also pulls out a perfect replica of the Wyrmhero Blade.

It would be best to fight Gilgamesh when the party's levels are at prime numbers to counter his 'Lv.x' magicks. If, however, this is not possible, prepare lots of Remedies or the White Magick Esunaga.
The party should Dispel Gilgamesh and Enkidu every start of the battle. Enkidu is vulnerable to Fire, so Fire/ra/ga and Oil is a potent mix. Fire-element spells are effective too. The trick is to take Enkidu out first before you focus on Gilgamesh.
In fighting Gilgamesh, the player's party should use Protect and the spell Vanish. Dispel Gilgamesh each time he puts out a different sword, and the battle should be won.
