What is the Sphere Grid?

How to use the Sphere Grid What is the Sphere Grid FFX Beginner Tips
FF X uses the Sphere Grid in leveling up characters. Each node represents a stat or ability which the player can activate to gain the corresponding stat/ability.

How to use the Sphere Grid

On the menu screen, choose Sphere Grid. You will then be brought to the Sphere Grid Menu. The White indicator is the current position of your current character in the grid. Pressing the X button will give you two choices. Move and Use.

Moving in the Sphere Grid will make the character's position in the grid change position. The character however, can only move to adjacent nodes connected by a path. Moving will also consume a Sphere Level.

Sphere Grid Use

Use will allow the player to use Spheres in the Sphere Grid.The Sphere Grid is divided into 6 types of nodes. These are:

  • Power Nodes
  • Speed Nodes
  • Magic Nodes
  • Luck Nodes
  • Ability Nodes
  • Lock Nodes

The nodes the player can activate are Nodes in the character's current position and adjacent nodes.

Sphere Grid Advanced Use

There are also special Spheres the player can use as they go through the game. These spheres range from creating new nodes to changing the position of the character in the grid.

Display Status

The player can also view the character's stats in the game by pressing the Triangle button in the Sphere Grid menu. This will show the character's current stats. Pressing the Triangle button again will show the other abilities the character has known.

Shifting characters

You can change the current character you are using in the Sphere Grid with the L1 and R1 buttons. This can also be done while displaying the status of the character for stat comparison.
