✔︎ Sheer size allows for a big presence in playing area.
✔︎ Boosters give good recovery. ✔︎ RAGE MODE is great when playing with allies. |
✖︎ Very slow movement.
✖︎ Some attacks require proper spacing to hit due to his height. |
Iron Giant is a very unique fighter mainly due to his larger than life size as compared to the other fighters in the game. This size gives him a wider reach on the stage for both his ground and aerial moves. This extended reach does come at a price since he is bigger, his hitbox is larger and his overall movement is slower.
Command | Move | Description | How to Use |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral (Neutral + Attack) |
Metal Eater/ 100-Ton Kick (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant charges a chomp on some metal that breaks armor. Hitting an enemy spawns a scrap metal item. In rage mode, he charges a forward kick. | You can use this in combos to break your opponent's armor and inflict more damage. In rage mode, you can use this to kick your opponent backwards. |
Side (Side (Hold) + Attack) |
Laying Back |
Iron Giant takes it easy, puts his hands behind his head and slams into the ground to relax. | You can use this to deal damage to opponents directly in front of you. |
Side (Side + Attack) |
Car-Lateral Damage/ Martian Laser (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant delivers a combo, smashing a car and then sitting on it to quiet its horn. In rage mode, he fires multiple shots of a laser projectile. | This move is Iron Giant's basic combo and can also be used to start aerial combos. In rage mode, you can fire projectiles to damage enemies in melee range. |
Up (Up + Attack) |
Caution: Flying Metal | Iron Giant charges then hurls a scrap metal item upward. Allies that pick up the scrap receive gray health. In rage mode, he fires 3 missile projectiles overhead that shoot downward. Missiles can be fired multiple times until out of ammo. | This is good for knocking enemies up to start aerial combos. In rage mode, you can fire the projectile to zone enemies away. |
Down (Down + Attack) |
This is...Art!/ Hydraulic Stomp (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant plants his artwork item, knocking nearby enemies downward. Allies that pick up the artwork receive gray health. In rage mode, he charges then slams his foot, creating a shockwave. | You can use this for edgeguarding or to give your ally more survivability in combat. In rage mode, you can use this to knock enemies back. |
Neutral (Neutral + Special) |
Defensive Matrix/ Hyperstatic Assault (Rage Mode) | When hitting the back of his head, Iron Giant will grant himself thorns and gray health. If Iron Giant's rage is full, neutral special will instead transform him into rage mode. | This is good when engaging enemies as your defensive capabilities are increased. |
Side (Side + Special) |
Carry On/ Stunnalizer 3000 (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant will grab a nearby enemy and can carry them while walking. They are dropped after Iron Giant jumps, or performs his next attack. In rage mode, he fires an energy orb that will stun enemies. Cooldown applies for the energy projectile. | You can use this to stop enemies from starting combos while also displacing them around the playing area. In rage mode, coordinate an aerial combo with your ally so you can have an easier time hitting the stun. |
Up (Up + Special) |
Systems are Go!/ Electric Surge (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant spins a beat-up hot rod around himself, blocking projectiles. He can move and fly while attacking, and the direction of his movement will change the angle the hot rod spins. In rage mode, Iron Giant summons an electrical strike up his body. Cooldown applies to the electrical strike. | While you can aim this to attack lower, this move is mainly used when an enemy is mid-air since this move is too high to hit opponents on the ground. In rage mode, you can use this to finish aerial combos. |
Down (Down + Special) |
Cannonball/ Aerial Laser Blast (Rage Mode) | Iron Giant jumps into the air and then cannonballs downward. Before he jumps, he can move an aimer on the ground that will control where his cannonball lands. In rage mode, Iron Giant fires a downward laser blast projectile. Hold input to delay firing. | Use this to move around the area faster. You can control where Iron Giant lands to land closer than originally intended. In rage mode, you can use this to spam projectiles at your opponents. |
When using Iron Giant's ground moves, you'll be using Car-Lateral Damage a lot as this is the bread and butter of his combos. This move is also a good way to start aerial combos along with Caution: Flying Metal.
Command | Move | Description | How to Use |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral (Neutral + Attack) |
Booster Barrage |
Iron Giant spins his legs around him while firing his rocket boots, hitting multiple times and consuming fuel. He can charge to increase the duration of the attack, but will consume more fuel. | This is good for disrupting your opponents flow as you can hit this even against smaller enemies. |
Side (Side + Attack) |
Rocket Kick |
Iron Giant lift and fires his rocket boots forward, hitting multiple times and burning fuel. | This can be used as a finisher for aerial combos as you can attempt for a ring out on the side of the platform. |
Up (Up + Attack) |
Superman! |
Iron Giant shoots upward with his fist held heroically. He can fly while attacking. | You can use this to try for a ring out on the top of the screen or to recover when falling from platforms. |
Down (Down + Attack) |
Blast Radius |
Iron Giant ignites his boots downward, creating a fire trail that spreads along the ground. He can charge to continue the attack, but will consume fuel. | Use this for inflicting burn damage to enemies. |
Neutral (Neutral + Special) |
Defensive Matrix/ Hyperstatic Assault (Rage Mode) |
Similar to ground, but Iron Giant won't transform into rage mode while he's in the air. | Similar to ground. |
Side (Side + Special) |
Rocket Boost!/ Stunnalizer 3000 (Rage Mode) |
Iron Giant fires his rocket boots back and shoots forward. He can charge to continue the attack, but will consume fuel. In rage mode, this attack is similar to his Ground Side Special. | Use this to knock your opponents off from the platform. |
Up (Up + Special) |
Systems are Go!/ Electric Surge (Rage Mode) |
Similar to ground. | Similar to ground, you can use this during aerial combos to try for a ring out on the top of the screen. |
Down (Down + Special) |
Craterball! |
Similar to ground, but Iron Giant does not aim and transitions immediately into the downward cannonball. | Use this after flying with your passive to land on unsuspecting enemies. |
While his size allows for his ground attacks to be sufficient for most cases, Iron Giant's aerial combat is great for attempting vertical ringouts. Superman! and Rocket Boost! lets him get away with ringing out enemies even at lower damages due to the burst of damage it inflicts.
Passive | Effect |
---|---|
Passive Abilities (unnamed) | Iron Giant does not have a double jump, but will instead fly when holding jump. Flying activates his rocket boots, propelling him upward and consuming fuel. Iron Giant will eat any item he picks up to increase the amount of gray health he receives from his neutral special. This includes his scrap and art. Inputting neutral special or neutral dodge while in hitstun will discharge a burst of electricity, damaging and knocking back all enemies near his body. Cooldown applies. When Iron Giant deals damage his rage meter will fill. When full, he can transition into rage mode, dramatically altering many of his attacks, giving him gray health. Iron Giant will exit rage mode after a period of time when his gray health is depleted. Allies can press their Normal Neutral input to pilot Iron Giant while he is in rage mode then aim his tentacles and fire light laser projectiles with normal input and a heavy lazer projectile with special input. |
Iron Giant's many passives work to make him a very durable character as he can fly and absorb additional damage with his grey health. When playing with an ally, they can climb aboard Iron Giant and control him while he is in rage mode.
Perk and Rating | Description | Explanation |
---|---|---|
★★★★★ Afterburners |
When Iron Giant's rocket boots ignite the ground, they leave behind firewalls. | This perk increases the utility of Iron Giant's rocket boots as you can inflict more damage over time with the firewalls. This can help control the playing area as your opponents will be forced to avoid the areas affected by the firewalls. |
★★★★★ Static Discharge |
Iron Giant's Thorns passive returns more damage for each unique source of gray health. | This perk gives Iron Giant an added layer of defense whenever he activates his Neutral + Special. |
★★★★☆ Wrong Side Of The Bed |
Iron Giant spawns with some of his RAGE meter already filled. | This can be especially good when playing with an ally as you can access Iron Giant's RAGE MODE earlier than usual. |
Perk and Rating | Description | Explanation |
---|---|---|
★★★★☆ Protective Momentum |
Your team gains a projectile shield after running on the ground in the same direction for at least 0.5 seconds. | Iron Giant already moves very slow which makes ranged attacks from opponents easier to land. Having this perk lets you work around his speed by giving him protection against projectiles. |
Perk and Rating | Description | Explanation |
---|---|---|
★★★★★ Speed Force Assist |
You receive 5% increased base movement speed. | This provides a much needed boost to Iron Giant's movement speed. |
★★★☆☆ 2 Fast 2 Block |
Your dash attacks break armor. | While Laying Back can be easy to dodge, having this perk when you do hit the move lets you increase your damage output. |
Perk and Rating | Description | Explanation |
---|---|---|
★★★★★ Pugilist |
Your melee attacks deal increased damage. | Outside of RAGE MODE, Iron Giant's abilities are all melee attacks. This perk gives you more damage when not in RAGE MODE. |
★★★★☆ Armor Killer |
Hitting an armored enemy will briefly stop them from using armor. | This perk works well with your kit since Iron Giant's Neutral + Attack also breaks armor, providing you with another move that prevents enemies from using armor in fights. |
Side + Attack ► Down + Attack ► Side + Attack ► Up + Special |
---|
Since Iron Giant's size makes it hard to hit opponents that are lightweight or small, it would be better to use a combo that will work on most of them. This combo will work on most of the characters as his moves are from the ground or midair.
Aerial Side + Attack ► Side + Attack ► Side + Special ► Up + Special |
---|
This combo is another combo that will work on most characters in the roster. This combo has a mix of Normal and Special attacks, which helps Iron Giant not fall into an Attack Decay debuff.
Using Iron Giant's Down Attack in the air lets you hit multiple enemies over a good range with fire damage. This can also be a good choice when you want to ensure a safe landing.
This move increases Iron Giant's defensive capabilities by giving him Thorns and Gray Health. This lets him play more aggressive as he can take hits easily.
When in Rage Mode, Iron Giant is immune to Knockback and gains new additions to certain moves and Specials. This allows you to mix up your battle strategy at any point of the match.
Iron Giant's aerial movement, as well as some of his attacks, consume Fuel. Although your Fuel constantly replenishes, overuse of certain moves can cause it to be temporarily depleted, leaving you at a disadvantage. Make sure to always keep an eye on this meter.
