MultiVersus is a platform fighting game with online compatability. Read on to learn about what netcode it uses and further details about its netcode.
List of Contents
Yes, it is confirmed that MultiVersus features a dedicated server-based Rollback netcode that supports online gameplay.
Online fighting games were previously played with delay-based netcode. This means that when inputting a button press, the game would have to send a signal to the person you're playing with, causing delays or lag to your gameplay.
Rollback is a far better netcode that eliminates the delay, because it predicts your inputs. If the game predicts your character to walk forward, for example, that is what the game will show your opponent. However, if you did not walk forward and jumped instead, the game will 'roll back' and adjust to what actually happened based on what is going on onscreen.
