FF12 How to Beat Gil Snapper
This page contains information about the boss Gil Snapper in Final Fantasy XII (FFXII, FF12). Read on to know more about the boss fight including its movesets and optimal strategies to beat it.

How to beat Gil Snapper

Details

Gil Snapper attacks FF12 Elite Marks
The Gil Snapper is a Rank III Elite mark which is hunted on the Giza Plains. It spawns in a special area of Giza Plains which has to be accessed through striking down driftwoods to create a bridge during the Rains. The seeq Bansat wil aid you in fighting this mark, which--unlike many titantoises--has a different weakness.

Moveset

Gil Snapper casts Blizzara FF12 Elite Marks
The Gil Snapper will enter battle with Haste, Protect, and Shell active. Flatten can knockout a character, while Silence and Blind can stop a character from casting spells and hitting its mark, respectively. Gil Snapper shares the same Purify spell with the Rocktoise, which it can cast to cure itself of ailments.

Gambit

White Mage
Ally: any Reflect
Ally: HP=70% Cura/ja
Black Mage
Foe: lightning - weak Thunder/ra/ga
Green Mage
Ally: any Bubble
Tank / Damage dealers
Foe: any Attack

Strategy

Gil Snapper falls FF12 Elite Marks
There are two routes to choose when facing off against the Gil Snapper. By this time, the player may have collected enough rep for the Bubble Belt to become available at the Bazaar. In this case, the party may take the Bubble Belt route, which would make hunting the Gil Snapper a lot easier and simpler.

On the other hand, the titantoise is weak to Lightning-element weapons and spells. In that case, the player can go and equip items that bestow the status Reflect or cast Reflect on the whole party, including Bansat. It should be pretty obvious what to do with this tactic--you should cast at least Thundara on your entire party. If done correctly, the Gil Snapper's HP will go down considerably faster.

Put silent shot on gunner. And equip two others with bows. Keep distance. Silence him. Let the guy that running around take his attention. Stand back. Blast away while auto everything. Won't cast spells. And won't attack you.
