To get this item you must first finish the Secondary Quest called There Can Be Only One which can be taken by talking to the hermit at the middle of the lake in Toussaint, which is directly north of Beauclair Palace. This quest will give objectives where you will have to prove that you have the 5 different traits required to become a worthy owner of the sword. You will have to choose specific dialogues on quests in order to prove these traits.
Go to the south side of Beauclair and explore the area until you are approached by a small child delivering a letter from Yennefer that triggers the Quest Turn and Face the Strange. After receiving the letter, choose to give the child a tip and give him 5 crowns to prove your generosity.
You must first take the quest Feet as Cold as Ice by talking to Francois and start the quest, you can find him north west of Beacuclair's Palace. From here you will have to kill Grottore without letting Francois die. It will not matter if you do or do not take the trophy, you will still receive Valor.
During the quest Beast of Toussaint there will be a point where you will have to fight an enemy inside the arena where you will be asked to kill or spare the Shaelmaar. You must choose to spare Shaelmaar to obtain Compassion.
Complete the Secondary Quest called Father Knows Worst that you will automatically receive after talking to the hermit. When doing this quest you must choose the option to save hugo and kill the brothers to get Honor.
You need to finish the quest called A Knight's Tale and successfully lift the curse from the tree using Sir Gareth's Bone under the Lynx Crag's house. You can get this quest from the notice board in Castel Ravello.
Aerondight's damage can easily be increased because of its ability to generate charges that powers up your damage by 10% with each blow you land. Successfully charging up your Aerondight will guarantee that your next attack will always deal a critical hit. Also, killing a foe with this weapon will permanently increase the weapon's damage, and its cap will depend on your current character level.
As this is not a Witcher Item, it can't be upgraded in the current version of the game. Witcher Items can be upgraded by finding the Diagram associated with the higher Rarity version of the Item, including the Base Diagram, Enhanced, Master, and finally Grandmaster.
