The best class for Val would be the Rune Knight (Wind Element) due to its high attack damage with Saber Magic. You can unlock this class after obtaining the Sylphid Boomerang once you leave the Fire Village of Tianeea in Chapter 1.

As for strategy settings, it would be best if Val could target the same enemies the tank is attacking so he can quickly defeat them without risking himself too much.

Spam Your Aerial and Ground Combo Attacks

Group Up and Aggro Your Enemies

Val has exceptionally high HP compared to other characters. This makes him a great front liner to draw the enemies' aggro and create openings for your teammates. Your most important role would be to avoid having your enemies target your allies and make them focus on yourself.

Mix Your Combos With Ground and Aerial Attacks

Val has different movesets when he is either mid-air or on the ground. Chain these movesets by applying variety to your attacks such as a 2-hit aerial Normal attack with a downward Special attack, followed by a 2-hit Special attack.

Your Starting Character

Val is unlocked and playable as soon as you finish the Prologue. Continue following the story of Eoren and Lyza in order to unlock and start playing as Val.
