How to Start Meeting the Automaton
Meet Hiraga in Somon
Meeting the Automaton is a short late-game quest that requires contact with Hiraga, the eccentric inventor living in Somon.
You will need to meet Hiraga XVI or later, and completed the Constructing the Leon Bridge and Mystery of the Canal from earlier generations.
See the Automaton Being Built in Earlier Eras
Though the side quest will not start until after Hiraga XV's generation, you can see an incomplete version of the Automaton by visiting Hiraga in Somon during earlier time periods.
These cutscenes serve as a hint to check back after time has passed to see the Automaton's progress.

Talk to Hiraga

Open the world map and travel to Somon, then speak to Hiraga. |

Meet the Automaton Rewards
Unlock the Automaton Class
Completing Meet the Automaton will unlock the Automaton as a playable character.
Puppet Army Formation Unlockable
Promoting the Automaton to Emperor allows you to unlock the Puppet Army formation at the Training Hall, which improves ailment resistance for the whole party.
Meeting the Automaton Missables and Tips
Strong, Uncontrollable Attacker
Rather than a playable character class, the Automaton, Coppelia, is a unique character. She is a powerful physical DPS, with very high base stats and proficiency in all weapons.
However, unless she is promoted to Emperor, she cannot be directly controlled in combat, and chooses commands randomly.
Put Coppelia in Charge ASAP
Note that the Coppelia is only playable for one generation. After recruiting Coppelia, abdicate the current Emperor immediately and make Coppelia the new Emperor.
After the next time skip, Coppelia will deactivate and her body will be kept in the Avalon Castle Storeroom.
Earn the Poker Face Ability
Emperor Coppelia will can the powerful Poker Face ability, which makes her immune to all status effects and debuffs.
Make sure to learn Poker Face before the next time skip while Coppelia is Emperor by winning at least 30 battles with her.
Learn Poker Face From Coppelia's Body
After the time skip, bring the next Emperor to visit the Avalon Castle Storeroom and examine her body to earn the Poker Face ability for any character's use.
