Synthesis Spells blend two elements to create powerful, unique combinations that stand apart from traditional magic schools. These advanced spells aren't learned through practice but are unlocked by collecting Old Books scattered across the world and delivering them to the researchers at your Incantations Lab.
How to Get All Synthesis Spells and Best Synthesis Spells to Get First

New Techniques can occasionally be glimmered (learned by using weapon or martial arts and their Techniques in battle. Once a glimmer occurs, the new Tech is immediately used in that turn and can be selected again in future turns.
Characters are more likely to unlock new techniques when facing tougher enemies. A light bulb icon next to a technique shows the chance of it glimmering—the brighter the bulb, the higher the likelihood!
Note that some Techs can only be glimmered once weapon level prerequisites have been met.

Early in the game, you can visit the Training Hall in Avalon Castle and speak to the NPC Soldier to equip or swap your Techs. The Training Hall displays a list of Techs learned by all the characters you recruited in the Kingdom, though not all will be immediately available. As the story or time advances, more Techs will become accessible for your party to use in battle.
After a time skip, all techs learned by any member of the party (including dismissed members) will be automatically registered in the Training Hall, after which they will be equippable on any character with the appropriate weapon proficiency level.

Characters can occasionally glimmer or learn new Spells by actively casting magic during battle. Unlike Techs, which can be glimmered during combat, Spells can only be learned after the battle ends, upon victory.
Spells have a chance to glimmer based on the school of magic cast during the fight. Only spells from the specific school used in the battle will have a chance to glimmer.
Keep in mind that some spells require specific magic school level prerequisites to be met before they can be glimmered.

After unlocking the Incantations Lab, you can equip and swap spells by speaking with the Researcher. The Lab shows a list of all spells learned by your characters, though not all will be immediately accessible. As the story progresses, more spells will become available for your party to use in battle.
You can also research and equip Synthesis Spells at the Incantations Lab. By collecting Old Books scattered across the world and submitting them to the researchers, you can unlock powerful Synthesis Spells that combine two elemental spells for unique effects.

In Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, Techs or Techniques are special weapon skills that can be unlocked through battle. New techniques, or glimmers are occasionally learned by frequently attacking with a weapon or by using a weapon-specific Technique.

Spells in Romancing SaGa 2 are magical abilities tied to different elemental schools, each offering unique effects. They can heal allies, bestow buffs, inflict status effects, or deal damage to enemies. Spells are learned through constant use, the Incantations Lab, or unlocking them through special means, like Synthesis Spells.
