When a unit is attacked, equipped Shields have a chance to activate, reducing the damage taken that turn. Bucklers, while less likely to trigger, fully block all incoming damage when they do. However, using a two-handed technique—such as Greatswords, Spears, Bows, or Martial Arts—disables the shield or buckler for that turn.

Body armor comes in several types, each catering to different playstyles. Heavy Armor provides a balanced approach, offering solid defense without sacrificing too much speed, making it a versatile choice. Full Body Armor maximizes defense at the expense of movement speed, ideal for units focused on tanking hits. Light Armor is the most balanced option, providing moderate defense while maintaining mobility, making it suitable for a wide range of characters. Robes are designed for magic users, prioritizing magic defense and often adding a bonus to the Magic stat. Finally, Clothing prioritizes movement speed.
