Hormagaunt Enemy Guide and How to Beat

Hormagaunt Enemy Information

Characteristics

The Hormagaunt is a Minoris threat Tyranid and is the most common enemy you will face in the game. Hormagaunts are very fragile and are easily dispatched even by just Secondary Weapons.

However, do not lower your guard just because these enemies seem like 'cannon-fodder'. In swarms, which is often the case, they can quickly overwhelm even the most seasoned Space Marine.

Attacks and Abilities

Hormagaunts just slash at you once they get within range. However, they do have a pounce ability that they use every once in a while that staggers you and causes a fair bit of damage if you miss a parry.

Frenzy

Certain other larger Tyranid enemies can cause Hormagaunts and Termagants to become frenzied. When in this state, these enemies are more aggressive and do more damage.

How to Beat Hormagaunt

Just Hit It

The Hormagaunt is very squishy. They usually take 1-2 melee strikes to kill or between 1-5 shots depending on the ranged weapon.

Thin The Swarm

Before engaging in all-out melee, ensure that you cut down their numbers enough as a large group of Hormagaunts can quickly overwhelm you. It's recommended to use either automatic weapons or the Melta Rifle when fighting against Hormagaunt swarms.

Parry Pounces

Every now and then, a Hormagaunt will attempt a leaping attack. When the blue attack cue, parry to avoid large damage and a momentary stun.
