The Neurothrope is a flying Terminus threat Tyranid enemy that you get to fight as a boss in the Campaign and as a random encounter in Operations. The Neurothrope has high armor and is not easily staggered, even with high-powered Primary Weapons.
Like its lesser cousin, the Zoanthrope, the Neurothrope also empowers nearby lesser Tyranid swarms.
Neurothrope Abilities | |
---|---|
Psychic Lighting Calls down lightning strikes at multiple zones. |
Psychic Ray Fires a linear wedge that sweeps upward (Delay). |
Psychic Blast Charges then shoots out a timed pulse of energy. |
Psychic Bolt Fires a set of 3 semi-homing energy balls. |
In place of 'regular' attacks, the Neurothrope will instead spam-cycle through its abilities while occassionally calling in squads of Hormagaunts.
The Neurothrope will always be airborne. The only time it goes to the ground is if its using its Psychic Blast, which only happens once it has taken enough damage.
The Neurothrope only nullifies gunfire when doing its Psychic Blast. Thus, the best approach is to pellet it with slow-firing but hard-hitting weapons such as the Stalker Bolt Rifle and Plasma Pistol. Avoid its abilities while continously harrying it from medium-to-long range until it takes enough damage that it does its Psychic Blast.
Time your dodge to avoid the pulses of the Psychic Blast until you get in melee range. Keep whacking it until it gets momentarily stunned, offering you a few extra seconds to deal damage.
Prioritize taking out the Hormagaunts it calls everytime as they will be frenzied. Frenzy causes units to be more aggresive and do more damage.
After recovering from being stunned, unless you have FULL armor, get some distance as the Neurothrope will 'Roar' and cause a large amount of damage if you stay long enough within range. It returns to the air after this.
