Multiplayer modes are available in most game modes in Madden NFL 25. Simply choose a game mode, and you should see either Head 2 Head (H2H) or Play a Friend among the options. Select one of these to start playing with other players.
Madden NFL 25 features two multiplayer modes: Head-to-Head (H2H) and Play a Friend. H2H is an online multiplayer mode that allows you to play against random players through either casual or ranked games. Play a Friend, on the other hand, is a mode that lets you play only with friends on your friend list.
There are also other modes that combine both as one mode, such as H2H Play a Friend in Quickplay and Ultimate Team.

Ultimate Team offers three different settings for the Play a Friend game mode. These include H2H PAF, All-Madden H2H PAF, and Squads PAF, each offering different ways to play with friends, whether through quick play, harder difficulties, or teaming up as squads.
For Head-to-Head, you can choose from four different game modes: Regular Season, H2H Ranked, Squads Regular Season, and Champions. Regular Multiplayer modes are casual game modes where you can practice with your team, while the others are for ranked games which you can go for once you're ready to face other players on the leaderboard.

Franchise Mode also includes only one multiplayer feature, which you can access exclusively in online mode. See the steps below to learn how to invite your friends in Franchise Mode!

| ① |  On the Franchise menu, create a new game under Play Online Solo or Multiplayer Mode. |
| ② |  For the next option, select any of the roster settings provided. What you pick here is a matter of preference, whether you want to use a roster from a specific week or create your own. |
| ③ |  Choose a team you want to represent and head to the League Settings after. Set the name of your league to something your friend can easily look up. You can also set up a password if you choose to keep the league private. |
| ④ |  Next, on the main league menu, go to Options and select Members. Choose any of the teams provided and click on Invite User to invite a friend. |
Showdown mode only has Play a Friend mode for its multiplayer features. In this mode, you can either play Solo, where you can play against a friend on the opposing team or Squad, where you get to team up with friends instead to face another three players.

| Solo | Team up with two evenly matched CPUs to take on one friend head-to-head. You must be the only player in your lobby to access this game mode. |
| Squad | Team up with two friends to face three others. Players must be in a full 3-person squad before entering this game mode. |
Quickplay also features a couple of multiplayer modes that you can try, including two H2H Play a Friend game modes. In Quick Match, you can play ranked games, while the H2H games allow you to play with a friend at varying difficulties.
