Prioritize one of the Combat Buddies at the beginning, and then look into which Crafting Life and Gathering Life is required to create its armor and weapon. this will help you start out without overwhelming you with options.

Make sure to craft weapons for your Buddies if you want them to pick up their own slack when it comes to fights! Certain Buddies will get significant buffs if you give them weapons that match their Skills, so make sure they have the appropriate gear, especially in post-game.

When reverting your allies from their Strangeling form, it’s recommended to prioritize reverting one crafting buddy from each job first.
In crafting activities, you can work alongside two companions. However, the game applies their production power differently: the first companion’s full production power is counted, while the second companion contributes only half.
Ideally, you’d want two companions for every crafting job, but the valuable item Celestia’s Gift needed to revert them is limited in supply. job first before expanding your team further.
With how much you spend fighting in the game, investing in Buddies that make it easier will do you more good in the long run as you can just focus on what you specifically need at the post-game.
Some Buddies are clearly desgined to do a specific task. However, there are several Buddies that can provide for a wider variety of uses. For Jobs that can easily be used on a wide range of situations, a higher tier was assessed.
List of All 14 Buddies and Jobs
Buddies that you can unlock early or with minimal hassle naturally hold more value since they’ll support you for a larger portion of your journey.
Conversely, no matter how good a Buddy is, if they're locked behind post-game or niche conditions, it affects their tier placement.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time Wiki
"most annoying one" for spin is an unexpected take. Tap is way more prevalent throughout all lives and becomes tiresome. Also, spin is trivialized when you realize you don't have to even rotate it very aggressively; just outside the joystick deadzone.
