FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time (FLi)

Local Co-Op and Online Multiplayer Guide

Add to Watchlist

FANTASY LIFE i - Multiplayer Guide

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time provides a multiplayer system that allows for co-op and online activities in the game! Learn all about the details of both the local co-op and online multiplayer system and how to unlock it when playing the game!

Local Co-Op and Online Multiplayer Guide

How to Play Local Co-Op Multiplayer

Local Co Op Trip

Fantasy Life i does offer local co-op, kind of. In this setup, two players share a single screen, with Player 1 using their custom character, while Player 2 takes control of Trip. It’s a fun little way to get a second person involved, though it’s more of a player-assistant kind of thing.

Player 2 can peck away at enemies, help gather resources like wood and ore, and grab loose items. That said, they won’t get their own character or save file. It’s a simple, family-friendly mode ideal for kids or anyone just looking to tag along without altering the main adventure.

How to Play Online Multiplayer

Online Support

Online multiplayer in lets up to four players band together for a proper adventure. The host gets to pick what kind of session you’ll dive into. Whether it’s roaming an island, venturing through a region of Ginormosia, or tackling a Treasure Grove. You’ll also decide the time of day, preferred character Life, and recruit settings before opening the gates to others.

Once you're in, everyone can explore, battle, and gather together. It’s the best way to get the full co-op experience, especially if you’re itching for quests with friends.

How to Unlock Multiplayer

Visit the Guild Office at Your Base Camp

Guild

You’ll unlock multiplayer naturally as you progress through the story. Once you hit Chapter 3, swing by the Guild Office at your base camp.

There’s an NPC at the counter inside where you’ll finally be able to choose Online Play from the menu. That’ll unlock the multiplayer hub and its options.

Recruit Members

Multiplayer Settings

Recruit Members creates your own multiplayer session. Set your destination: an island, a region in Ginormosia, or Treasure Grove, and tweak the session rules.

Once you’re happy, open it up for friends or public players.

Head Out

Outing Search

Head Out lets you browse other open sessions. Use the Outing Search menu to jump into someone else’s world, and you’re off.

Multiplayer Gameplay Features

2 Player Family Co-Op Using Single Platform

2 Player Family

The game supports two players on one device. One player controls their character, while the other plays as Trip, similar to the local co-op setup.

If you’re on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, you’ll need two pairs of Joy-Cons, four controllers total, to make it work. A bit overkill for a sidekick role, but hey, it’s there for family-friendly fun.

Available Platforms and Consoles Guide

2 Player Family Co-Op Available on Steam

How to Play 2 Player Co-Op on Steam
1 Once you've launched the game, access the Steam Overlay (Shift + Tab) and select Remote Play Together.
2 When the Remote Play Together window is open, invite a guest or friend from your Friends List in your account.
3 Once the invitation link has been accepted, the 2 player co-op feature will now be available on the Remote Play feature.

Best to note that the second player will still be limited to controlling Trip. Also, whoever you invite needs a separate Steam account from yours for this to function properly.

Cross-Play Multiplayer Feature

Cross-Play

FANTASY LIFE i includes Cross-Play support, meaning you can play with friends across different systems. Whether they’re on Switch, Steam, or another platform, you can team up without worrying about compatibility.

It makes multiplayer matchmaking a lot easier when your friend group’s all scattered across various devices.
