There are a total of 14 unlockable lives in the game plus the Brand New Life being the base Life you start with. These classes can be divided into three different life types based on use, these being Combat, Gathering, and Crafting Lives.
Each Life comes with unique skills, weapons, and rank trials that unlock powerful bonuses as you level them up, so experimenting with different combinations can massively boost your progression.

Combat Lives are your main class as you explore the world and take down enemies that stand in your way. Each Combat Class has their own Abilities and Skills, so feel free to choose the one that suits your preferrence.
Some Combat Lives pair especially well with certain Crafting or Gathering Lives. For example, a Hunter can farm rare monster drops needed by Alchemists, while a Mercenary benefits from custom gear forged by a Blacksmith.

Gathering Lives are lives that give you resources for selling to merchants or crafting consumables or equipment to aid in your travels. These are very important classes to rank up if you want to further your Crafting Lives.
Ranking up your Miner and Woodcutter early can set you up for fast Dosh farming and crafting progression.

Crafting Lives are lives which focus on creating decorations for your house or producing items and equipment that can aid you in exploring.
Consider linking your Gathering and Crafting Lives early on. For example, a Miner + Blacksmith combo lets you gather materials and immediately forge them into weapons, cutting down grind time and saving gold.

Starting from Chapter 7, you’ll start running into story quests that require materials gathered or items crafted from specific Lives. If you don’t want to hit sudden grinding walls mid-story, it’s a good idea to level your core Lives in advance.
Combat Lives should be at Lv 35 or higher, while Gathering Lives should aim for Lv 30–40, since Lv 50 resource nodes start appearing around this time. Likewise, Crafting Lives need to be around Lv 35–40 so you can take on the story’s required crafting tasks without backtracking.

If your priority is piling up Dosh early on, a few Lives shine for fast money-making. Miner is one of the best picks since high-value ores sell for a good price, and gathering them is relatively easy with a decent pickaxe. Woodcutter is another solid choice, especially for valuable logs and timber that crafters always need.
Once you unlock Blacksmith, it becomes a money printer, forging gear and tools to sell or use for upgrades nets you tidy profits. The trick is to focus on materials with strong market value for even better returns.

Some Lives naturally complement each other and work better when leveled in tandem. A classic example is Miner and Blacksmith since you gather ores and forge your own weapons or armor, cutting out the middleman entirely.
Woodcutter and Carpenter is another great pairingas you can chop down trees, then turn that lumber into furniture or equipment you can use or sell.
If you’re leaning into consumables, try combining Farmer and Cook to harvest veggies and whip up stamina-boosting meals. And for players who love hunting monsters, Hunter and Alchemist is a killer combo, gathering monster drops and brew handy potions for tougher boss fights.

Artist
|
Crafting | Paintbrush | What is Life without Art? Through paintings, sculptures, and interior design, an Artist gives color to our world. |

To get new lives, you can head to the Guild Hall and talk to Auntie Anne. You are free to unlock and complete the challenges as you please and each life has no requirement to start, with the exception of Farmer and Artist.
Some Lives are better unlocked early depending on your build plans. If you’re eyeing rare gear or money-making routes, unlocking Miner, Woodcutter, and Blacksmith early is highly recommended.

Just like any other RPG, Lives are this game's equivalent of a Job or Class system. Each life can also affect your progress on other lives, so be sure to explore all of them.
Many Lives can still equip or carry over certain benefits while you're using another Life, meaning you can create hybrid builds to suit your playstyle.
