Rest Before the Fight

This should actually be done before any boss fight just to be safe. Campfires are usually found before boss battles, and you should use them before proceeding to replenish your team's HP and MP, as well as to save your current progress.

Attack From Behind or From Afar

DQ Treasures - use catapult on the Heartless Hunter

The first boss that you will encounter will be fairly easy. You can have your allies take the Heartless Hunter head-on while you snipe it with your catapult. If you want close combat, you can do so by attacking it from behind, but be careful of its spinning slash as this attack can hit everyone around the boss!

Heartless Hunter Attack Patterns

Cut-Throat Laser

DQ Treasures - Cut-Throat Laser

The boss fight usually opens with this attack. The Heartless Hunter will sweep its front with a laser, which can be dodged by rolling or by staying completely out of range.

Bomb Slash

DQ Treasures - Bomb Slash

The Heartless Hunter will swing its sword wildly, damaging targets around it. This ability's range is as short as the boss' melee attack so you should be safe if you're spamming Pellets. If you prefer close combat, quickly dodge away as soon as you see this ability being cast.
