Is There Fall Damage?

Fall Damage Is Possible

Fall Damage - Dragon Quest Treasures
There is indeed fall damage in the game. While it is generous enough to not immediately damage after a small fall, the damage will quickly ramp up the higher your initial height before the fall. However, do take note that allied monsters do not take fall damage.

Fall Damage is Non-Lethal

While the damage can go from pretty light to severely high depending on the height of your fall, do remember that the damage you can take from the fall damage is non-lethal. You can use this when planning certain routes such as jumping from spots that may appear dangerous but has no enemies on the area you'll land on.

Heal Your Character By Holding X

Upon taking damage, you can heal your chosen main character by holding the X button. This will consume mana but falling from a high area may be the cause of your main character fainting and a few MP spent will make your journey much smoother.

Sprint Forte Negates Fall Damage

Dragon Quest Treasures - Sprint
The best alternative for planning certain routes are using monsters with the Sprint Forte. The Sprint Forte will speed up your movement while navigating the map and it also negates fall damage. As an additional bonus, you can also pick up all gathering points without the gathering animation you usually do when walking.
