Look In the Overworld

Dragon Quest Treasures - Look for Items that Stand Out
The simplest method, especially early in the game when you don't have access to monsters with the Scan Forte, is simply to look for items you can harvest while exploring the Overworld.

These items can be found all over, from caves to riversides! So when in doubt, try to interact with it!

Use the Scan Forte

Dragon Quest Treasures - Scan Icon Activates the monster's sixth sense to check the surrounding area for crafting materials and treasure chests. Can only be used on the ground.

Many monsters will have the Scan Forte, which allows them to highlight areas that contain materials and treasure chests!

When you first visit an area, use the Scan Forte to get a better reading of the place and grab as many materials as possible!

Once you're more familiar with the location, you can simply hunt for items in the overworld and bring in a different Monster with a different Forte!
