Dragon Quest Treasures features the thief Erik from its sequel Dragon Quest XI. As a thief, Erik and his sister Mia naturally knows how to steal or pinch from enemies. This is a guide on using the steal ability and how to gain additional loots from enemies!

How to Steal from Enemies

Use Crouch When in Enemy Range

Once an enemy is in range, you can have Erik/Mia use crouch by pressing the left stick. Once crouching, a Pinch prompt will appear and once you have held the A button until the gauge filled, releasing it will cause your chosen main character to lunge at the enemy and attempt the steal minigame.

Stealing Can Be Done Mid-Fight

As opposed to sneaking, you can still use steal mid-fight. However, you have to charge your Pinch Gauge at a safe location because if you get hit by the enemy, the Pinch charge will stop.

Time Your Input with the Circular Mark

After using Pinch, a spinning circle mini-game will appear on the screen. Time the spinning bar on the orange arrow to successfully steal from the enemy. Failing will not allow you to steal from the enemy but it can be repeated multiple number of times.

Failed Steal Attempts Will Anger the Enemy

Failing to steal from an enemy may cause it to get enraged. They will attack faster and deal more damage so its highly recommended to steal from the enemy when their health bars are low to increase your party's safety.

Pinch Count Can Be Increased By Gang Level

At the start of the game, the number of items you can naturally steal from enemies by default is one. However, as the game progresses, you can start upgrading your treasure gang rank which can provide a bonus to increasing the number of items to pinch from the same enemies!
