Dragon Quest Treasures is indeed a prequel to Dragon Quest XI. However, the game does not highlight the story of the Luminary, the game's main character, but rather that of Erik and Mia. Erik is one of the playable characters and the thief of the party's main roster. Mia is another major character that due to unfortunate events in the game, has turned to gold. Both characters are playable in Dragon Quest Treasures.
