(Tier 1) |
・Plant Fiber x2 ・Stick x2 ・Any Rubble x2 |
On Day 1 of your Hytale Exploration world, craft the Crude Hatchet and Crude Pickaxe first to make chopping wood and mining stone easier, as both materials are used in most crafting throughout the game.
Plant Fiber is obtained by punching bushes, and Sticks can drop from punching trees and bushes as well. Rubble can be found on stone surfaces. All of these materials are abundant in the Emerald Wilds (Zone 1) or the starter biome where most players first spawn.

Crude Sword
|
Pocket, Workbench
(Tier 1) |
・Plant Fiber x2 ・Stick x2 ・Any Rubble x2 |
The world of Hytale is full of dangers, so it’s best to defend yourself. Craft a Crude Sword to fend off enemy mobs and hunt Wild Meat from animals like Chickens, Pigs, and Sheep. Having a sword also prepares you to make a quick detour to the Forgotten Temple Gateway, which should be near your spawn point.
The Crude Sword can be crafted using the same materials as the Crude Hatchet and Pickaxe.

Campfire
|
Pocket, Workbench
(Tier 1) |
・Stick x4 ・Any Rubble x2 |
At this point in the game, you should be gathering materials and building your shelter. You may also have taken damage from enemy mobs or from a fall along the way. Craft a Campfire using Sticks and Rubble to cook meat for healing.
While optional, since there is no hunger system and Wild Berries can carry you through the early game, a Campfire lets you put the Wild Meat you’ve gathered from livestock to good use.

Crude Bedroll
|
Pocket, Workbench
(Tier 1) |
・Plant Fiber x3 ・Light Hide x2 |
Craft a Crude Bedroll to set your respawn point whenever you die. Place it inside your shelter so you’re protected after coming back from the dead. The Crude Bedroll requires Plant Fiber and Light Hide, which can be dropped by small animals like Boars, Horses, and Deer.

Crude Torch
x4
|
Pocket, Workbench
(Tier 1) |
・Plant Fiber x1 ・Tree Sap x1 ・Stick x1 |
Nighttime makes the world more hostile, so craft Crude Torches as soon as the sun goes down. Crude Torches are the most reliable light source in the game, as you can hold one to light your path, place them on walls and floors to illuminate your shelter, and use them as markers when exploring caves.
To craft Crude Torches, you’ll need Plant Fiber, Sticks, and Tree Sap. Tree Sap can be obtained by cutting down trees or by breaking tree nubs. Each craft will give you 4 Crude Torches.

When you're ready to expand your crafting capabilities, it’s time to build a Workbench! This allows you to craft more complex tools and items, including specialized crafting tables. The Workbench only requires any Tree Logs and any Stone.
In addition to the Workbench, it’s also a good idea to craft a Builder’s Workbench to create structural building blocks that further improve your shelter. Later, once you have a Furnace (which we'll cover next), craft the Armorer’s Workbench and Blacksmith’s Anvil so you can start making better weapons and armor.

(Tier 1) |
・Any Tree Log x6 ・Any Stone x6 |
To start upgrading your equipment, craft a Furnace to process the ores you’ve gathered into metal bars. These metal bars, more commonly known as ingots, are used to create and improve your tools. A Furnace can be crafted with any Tree Log and any Stone.

Now that you’re settled in your world, you can start grinding materials for stronger equipment, including weapons and armor. We recommend going for Copper equipment, as it provides decent protection and attack power, and Copper Ore is easily found in the first few layers of a cave.
Once you have enough Copper Ore, use the Furnace to smelt it into Copper Ingots, then take them to the Armorer’s Workbench and Blacksmith’s Anvil to build your equipment. You can also use the Workbench to craft a Copper Hatchet and Copper Pickaxe to improve your material gathering.
A full set of Copper gear will prepare you for the midgame, where you can venture farther and gather rarer resources to upgrade your equipment further!

You can craft the basic and essential items directly from your inventory. Press the Tab key, and above the inventory you’ll find the Pocket Crafting window. Here, you can see recipes you can craft on the go and the materials required for each item.
Once you have a Workbench, you can also use this to craft more complex items, including specialized crafting tables that let you create even more items.
