You can get Eggs every day in Hytale by assigning Chickens to Coops. Learn how to get Eggs from Chickens, how to get the Chickens and Coops, and whether Chicks can grow into Chickens in this guide!
List of Contents

Chickens assigned to a Chicken Coop will produce one egg per day. Once assigned, chickens automatically return to the coop at night, and eggs can be collected the following morning.
You’ll know eggs are ready to be collected when a small sack icon appears at the entrance of the coop. Each Chicken Coop can hold up to 6 chickens only, so if you're planning to get more eggs, it’s best to build additional coops.
| Item ID | Food_Egg |

| Command | /give Food_Egg |
Eggs can also be obtained using console commands but this method requires admin permissions. To do this, press the Enter button on your keyboard. Once the console is open, type in /op self to set yourself as admin.
Once that's done, go to the console command menu again and paste the /give Food_Egg command to get yourself a piece of the item.

Chickens can be found roaming grassy areas in Zone 1 biomes, such as forest and meadow regions. While not extremely common, they are fairly easy to spot during exploration.
To capture a chicken, you’ll need a Capture Crate, which can be crafted from the Farmer’s Workbench. Once crafted, equip the crate and interact with a chicken to store it inside. You can then transport the crate back to your base and release the chicken near a coop.
Each Capture Crate can only hold one animal at a time, so multiple crates may be needed if you plan to move several chickens.
As of early access, chickens cannot be bred. There is no known method to reproduce chickens using items, food, or interaction mechanics,so capturing them from the wild is currently the only way to obtain more.

Before you can craft a Chicken Coop, you must first upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench to Tier 5. The coop recipe will not appear until this upgrade requirement is met.
| Building | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Coop | ・ Any Wood x20 ・Essence of Life x50 ・Plant Fiber x10 |
Once the Farmer’s Workbench is upgraded, you can then craft a Chicken Coop. Place the coop near your base and release captured chickens nearby. Chickens will automatically assign themselves to the closest coop.

Animal growth mechanics are not currently implemented in Hytale’s early access. Chicks do not grow into adult chickens over time, and there is no way to mature them manually.
Until growth systems are added, only fully grown chickens can be used for egg production.
