Hytale supports online multiplayer features for both co-op and PvP. Read on to learn about the available features and how to start playing with others.

Online Co-op and PvP
Hytale supports online co-op, allowing players to share adventures with friends by exploring the world, fighting creatures, and building together. The game also features PvP, which can be enabled by the host through the world settings, allowing players on the server to fight one another.
In addition, Minigames is another mode that supports both co-op and PvP through custom games featuring social and competitive objectives.
As of this writing, Minigames is not yet available, and multiplayer is limited to Exploration and Creative Modes during early access.
Choose Between World or Server
Multiplayer can be experienced by hosting or joining a private world or by playing on a dedicated server. The basic differences are as follows:
| World | A private world hosted by a player. The host must be online for others to join. Friends can join using an invitation code. |

| Server | A world on a dedicated server runs continuously without the host player, allowing others to join at any time using the server’s IP address. |
The easiest way to play multiplayer with your friends is by using a standard world, as you only need an invitation code to join one another. On the other hand, setting up a dedicated server requires more effort, but it is ideal if you want to host or join a larger community.
Max Players Not Confirmed Yet
The exact maximum number of players that can join a world or server hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, and it may change during and after early access. Server default configurations shows a maximum of 100 players, but this may be adjusted as development progresses.
No Local or Splitscreen Support Yet
Hytale does not include local multiplayer or splitscreen play in early access. All multiplayer is online and there is no splitscreen mode on the same device.

Invite Friends Using an Invitation Code
In your existing world, you can have friends join by configuring the Online Play settings. Enable Allow Other Players to Join, optionally set a password, then copy the generated code and share it with your friends. Note that the host must remain online for others to join.
Join Using an Invitation Code
You can join a world directly using the Join via Code option in the Servers menu. The host needs to be online and must have enabled Online Play to provide the code.
Host a Dedicated Server
Hytale allows you to set up a dedicated server for a world that is always online. You can either set it up manually using the official server manual or rent a hosting service that supports Hytale. Once your server is running, simply share its IP address with your friends to start playing together.
Join Using an IP Address
In the Servers menu, you can join a server using Direct Connect by entering its IP address, or use Add Server to save it to your server list so you don’t have to enter it again.
