Death Penalty: What Happens When You Die?

Add to Watchlist

Hytale What Happens When You Die
You will lose some of your items and their durability when you die in Hytale. Learn what happens when you die and how to recover your lost items in this guide!

What Happens When You Die?

Item Quantity and Durability Are Reduced

You Died

When you die in Hytale, you will lose half of the consumables and resources in your inventory. For instance, if you had 50 Plant Fiber, you would lose 25. Your tools, weapons, and armor will also lose 10% of their durability.

You will then respawn at the bed you set as your respawn point. If you didn’t set one, you will instead appear at the spawn point from when you first entered the world.

Resource and Durability Loss Can Be Adjusted

Players can control resource and durability losses upon death through the World Settings.

While the base percentage loss is set to 50% and 10% respectively, both can be adjusted up to 100% loss or disabled entirely.

How to Recover Lost Items

Follow the Gravestone Icon to Where You Died

Death Location

To recover your lost items, simply return to the spot where you died and they will be on the ground. You can open the map by pressing the M key and check the Gravestone icon, which indicates the location where you last died. The Gravestone icon also appears on your compass, making it easy to follow.

As for your tools, weapons, and armor that lost some durability, you can easily repair them using a Repair Kit.
