There are a total of 240 Memories available to collect in Hytale as of early access. Each Memory is tied to a specific creature you encounter during exploration, ranging from harmless animals to hostile enemies found across different biomes.

Feran Civilian Bug

One memory appears to be bugged; it looks identical to the Feran Civilian, and clicking it may select the civilian instead or cause infinite loading. This issue is present in early access, so players may need to skip it until it’s fixed.

Forgotten Temples can be found throughout the world and are usually located near your starting area. The temple is marked on your map with a portal icon, making it easy to find and return to later on.

Bypass the Guardian of the Portal

Gateway Guarded by Earthen Golem

Inside the temple, head downstairs behind the altar to find a portal guarded by a golem boss. The golem can be defeated using early-game equipment, but it’s also possible to simply run past it and enter the portal without fighting.

The guardian respawns whenever you return to the temple, so avoiding it can save time if you’re revisiting frequently.

Heart of Orbis

Entering the portal transports you to the Edge of the Echo, a peaceful area where the Heart of Obis is located. Interact with the totem to unlock the Memory system, allowing you to begin recording creature discoveries throughout the world.

How to Collect Memories

Record Every Creature You Come Across

Once the Memory system is unlocked, Memories are recorded automatically when you encounter a creature for the first time. A marker will appear above the creature’s head, indicating that it is a new discovery. This applies to both hostile and non-hostile creatures.

Creatures encountered before activating the Heart of Obis will not be counted. Because of this, it’s best to unlock Memories as early as possible.

Memories

Discovering a Memory does not immediately add it to your collection. To finalize newly discovered entries, you must return to the Forgotten Temple and interact with the Heart of Obis.

Any unregistered Memories will be added to your collection when you use the totem, so make sure to revisit the temple regularly as you explore new areas.

Collecting a number of Memories rewards the player with helpful items, Backpack upgrades, and additional Teleporters. It is recommended to log your Memories frequently especially if you're gunning for a specific reward.

What Are Memories?

Bestiary of Every Mob Encountered

Lemur

Memories is basically a logbook or bestiary of all the mobs you've encountered in Hytale. Completionists can aim to collect all Memories, as there is currently no concrete endgame in the game's Early Access state.

At the moment, each Memory also doesn’t contain much beyond its category and a portrait of the creature. It’s possible this will be expanded in the future to include more information.
