Get Damage for Bahamut

Bahamut is the first Magilumic Orb you unlock at the start of the game. Take advantage of its low TP cost and large AoE, by prioritizing its Damage upgrades over all the other Engravings in its upgrade tree.

While useful for some missions, Anti-Beast, Anti-Barricade, and even the expensive Burn modifier can all be substituted for character skills later on in the game.

Get EP Recovery for Goldhorne

Progressing through the game will introduce you to stronger enemies and there might be times when you're HP/EP gets too low. Utilize Goldhorne's restorative effects and prioritize upgrading its EP recovery to be able to use skills more frequently in battle.

In addition to EP, Goldhorne also restores HP to allies. However, receiving heals from ally Skills are more viable as they cost less than summoning Goldhorne altogether.

Get Delay & Damage for Fenrir

Fenrir is another Magilumic Orb that only needs 1 TP to summon, allowing you to deal AOE damage and utility by inflicting Freeze in a large area.

Since it already has a free Status Effect, you can prioritize getting the Delay debuff as it adds another layer of debuffs, decreasing the enemy's movement, attack, and cooldown speed. Once purchased, you can double down on getting Damage engravings to make Fenrir more effective in battle.

Get Buffs for Salamander

Salamander's effects are perfect for when you need that extra kick in your attacks. Prioritizing Buffs over the other Engravings is the best way of getting through the upgrade tree as you'll want to get the best value for the 2 TP you spend to summon it.

Get Wither & Damage for Coeurl

In addition to the AOE damage Coeurl deals, it also inflicts the status effect Weakness, which decreases the damage a unit dishes out. Prioritize increasing Coeurl's damage and, when you can, get the Wither upgrade from the tree. These combine for a deadly combo, essentially making Coeurl's costly summon worth it.

Get Damage & Cooldown Reduction for Ouroboros

Since Ouroboros heals your caster for the amount of damage it deals, getting Damage Engravings will be your first priority. For more utility, especially in Skill reliant teams, getting the Cooldown Reduction Engravings will allow for some cool chain combos that would usually be impossible due to cooldowns.

Upgrade Orbs With Magilumic Orb Research

Along with Weapon Development, Magilumic Orb Research unlocks after talking to the Researcher as you play though Harbinger of Discord in Chapter 2. Once you finish talking to the Researcher, you can unlock the Magilumic upgrades mentioned above right away.
