The ending of The DioField Chronicle may offer more questions than answers for players that have cleared the game. Read on to learn about the ending's full explanation, what happens after defeating the final boss, and if there will be room for a sequel!
This page contains spoilers for the endgame of The DioField Chronicle. |
After Andrias stabs Zevatian, the General takes a good look at Andrias before dying only to recognize that Andrias was a spy that works for the Empire and wondered why one of his men would take his life.
From there, Andrias remembers details of his past that he has long forgotten - that his family was slain by the Trovelt-Schoevian Empire and that he was one of the hundreds of children that the Empire had abducted throughout the years as a means of obtaining manpower for war.
Having no choice but to be taken in by the Empire, Andrias worked his way up and eventually becomes a member of the Empire's elite unit, the Einz Welt.
As a secret agent of the Einz Welt, he was tasked to infiltrate the inner circles of the Allatain Government and to wreak havoc from within to intensify civil unrest.
However, despite following the orders of the Empire, the words of his unnamed master echoes through his mind, that the only way to achieve things is to take them by force and that those that deserve power are only the ones that are righteous.
The words of his master is what prompted him to push forward with his beliefs, to refuse being a puppet of the Empire, and to ultimately take down Zevatian, the man who took everything away from him.
Based on the updated Library Notes when loading a CLEAR save file, it is confirmed that Fredret gets killed during the final battle, after Andrias shoots him once Zevatian had died.
It is likely that Andrias killed Fredret due to his headstrong and reckless nature of carrying out his responsibilities as king and deemed that Fredret was unworthy to hold such power.
The post credits scene shows Andrias entering a war room alone, donning an attire much like Zevatian's, implying that he has rejoined the empire in a position of similar power to Zevatian.
With the sudden twists and turns of the game's ending - with Andrias' true identity revealed and the possibility of him becoming the next General of the Empire, many speculate that this is a setup for a sequel wherein the goal is to take Andrias down.
