How to Upgrade Character Abilities

Upgrade Abilities with AP

Characters can be strengthened by using Ability Points (AP) to learn new Abilities. Each character has abilities specific to themselves that boost their or the whole unit's stats.

Access the Abilities Screen From Each Character’s Equipment Screen

The Abilities screen can be found by selecting the icon on the bottom of your character's portrait. From here, you can also switch between the different ability screens for each character in your unit.

Level Up Your Character to Get More AP

Ability Points (or AP) are rewarded whenever you level up a character. The amount of AP is unique to each character and cannot be shared between them. Should players wish to reset any AP used they may do so for 5000G.

Note that even reaching the max level of 99, you cannot upgrade all Abilities to max level since the total AP cost to upgrade everything goes beyond the level cap.

Best Abilities for Each Character

Raise Your Unit Rank

Apart from using AP, there are some abilities that also require reaching a certain unit rank. You can check the required unit rank for these abilities by hovering your cursor over them.

How to Farm AP

Since AP is gained from leveling up your characters, completing Main Quests is the best way to farm AP. The amount of XP you gain increases with each new mission completed and this can make leveling go by fairly quickly.
