Duke Hende Lore and Summary

Background Information

DioField Chronicle - Duke Hende

The Hendes were a minor family with a modest rural estate in Central Field before the current duke assumed control. However, William went to study on the continent when he was younger. When he returned, he used the skills he had learned to make his family rich and well-known.

Making a Fortune Using Jade

By selling Jade to other countries, he generated a huge profit and invested it in the growth of the Hende territory. Additionally, he also started his own businesses and used technologies from the continent, all of which contributed to him being one of the wealthiest individuals in the Kingdom.

Joining the Lords Council

DioField Chronicle - Duke Hende Being Defensive

He established his own order of knights when he was chosen to sit on the Lords Council and has been bolstering his military power ever since. The duke realized that Alletain's most dependable military units had historically been mercenary organizations that traveled and battled for pay, so he made the decision to use his family's resources to form his own force - the Blue Foxes.

The Lords Council concurred with Duke Hende that a mercenary group under his command would be advantageous to both the royal government and themselves. Duke Hende was then put in charge of handling the Lords Concil's covert actions, giving him a powerful position. To appease the factions who feared William would have a monopoly on the use of force in the Kingdom, William selected Yorden instead to be the unit leader.

Relationship with the Empire

Duke Hende had regular communications with the Empire. This was clear from all the advanced technology in his facilities.

While exploring the continent, he also established contact with the Empire's top officials, who promised him a sizable sum of money, cutting-edge equipment, and a wealth of knowledge in exchange for betraying his kingdom.

Duke Hende's Death

DioField Chronicle - Blue Foxes Doubting the Duke

Unfortunately for him, his ambitions were thwarted by his own mercenary unit, the Blue Foxes, as they were already casting doubts of Duke Hende's actions as early as Chapter 2.
