Highguard’s Remaining Developers Speak Out About Its Offline Website
Website Fix at Low Priority

Highguard’s website downtime was a perplexing moment for its community, but developers assure that this does not mean the end for the first-person shooter title. A developer known as WL_Coronach took to Highguard’s official Discord to explain that the website was taken down because it needed "to be transferred and simplified."
The developer also noted that rebuilding a website is a "low priority" at the moment, as the game has already suffered significant "reputational damage," suggesting there is little point in maintaining a site for a game with a low player count.

Before its disappearance, the website was an interactive hub showcasing Highguard’s features, including details on the Wardens and their abilities, brief gameplay snippets, and a variety of screenshots. It has now been replaced with a static page displaying the words "Site Unavailable," alongside links to Discord and X (formerly Twitter).
The website going offline came as a shock to the community, especially right after Wildlight Entertainment’s mass layoffs eliminated roughly 80% of its workforce. The move felt like an ill omen for players who are still hoping to see the game turn things around and come back stronger.
Highguard Not Going Down Yet

The Highguard developer also confirmed in the same Discord response that while the website going offline is the least of their concerns, the rest of the team is still hard at work delivering updates and content to improve the game.
Its upcoming update, set to release this week, adds a brand-new map called Cloudreach, alongside a new Lockpick raid tool that can open doors instantly. While it remains unclear how much more new content will roll out in the near future, the team’s ambitious roadmap is still on track, with more Wardens and maps potentially arriving soon.

The developer response offers a small semblance of hope for one of 2026’s most polarizing games. According to a now-deleted post from a former Highguard dev, despite becoming "a joke by the community from day one," the team is still trying to climb out of the deep well of reputational damage.
The most recent update introduced a new Warden named Ekon, who can transform into a wolf, alongside the permanent addition of a 5v5 mode. That update briefly led to a noticeable spike in the player base when it went live. Unfortunately, the momentum did not last, as the game’s numbers continued to decline in the days that followed, further worsened by Wildlight Entertainment’s mass layoff.
