You can recruit ants to help you in combat in Grounded 2. Learn how to tame ants and what they can do for you in this guide!

Get a Soldier Ant Buggy

Grounded 2 Hatchery

First, you'll need a Red Soldier Ant Buggy to recruit ants. To get a Soldier Ant Buggy, complete the Story Quest, Egg Hunt, which requires you retrieving a Soldier Ant Egg. You will then build a Hatchery using Weed Stems, Acorn Tops, Acorn Shells, and Mite Fuzz, though you likely already have one from the previous Story Quest.

After building the Hatchery, incubate the Soldier Ant Egg using Grub Hides, Sprigs, and Acorn Shells. It takes 12 in-game hours to hatch, so feel free to do other activities or sleep to pass the time faster.

How to Get a Soldier Ant

Recruit Ants While Riding a Soldier Ant Buggy

Once you have a Red Soldier Ant Buggy, ride it and look for a Red Ant around the park. Approach a Red Ant and press the Left D-pad (Xbox) or H key (PC) to recruit it. A swirling tiny rock will appear above the tamed ant's head, indicating that it is now following you. Note that you can tame only one ant at a time.

Recruited Ants Can Help You In Combat

Grounded 2 Ants Help in Combat

As of now, recruited Red Ants can only help you in combat. They will attack any aggressive insects nearby or offer suppport when you are attacking one. Red Ants cannot help in chopping down grass or help with construction.
