How to Fix Join Game Failure
Re-Check Password
While the error does say that the problem is an authentication error, the cause may also be just a password input error. Joining a session with the wrong password can display the AuthenticateLocalUser Failed 6:36.
Host Restarts The Game
An alternative fix is to have the host restart the game. This error can also show up due to other connection issues, which most can be resolved by the world's host restarting and relaunching the game.
However, this is a temporary fix as the game is still prone to this error even after a restart.
