Grounded 2 Frostbitten Key

Frostbitten Key Location

Inside the Ice Cream Truck

The Frostbitten Key is located inside the Ice Cream Truck. In advance, you'll need to prepare equipment with Chill Reduction in order to survive the environment, some heals just in case, and Spicy Shards that you can consume to reduce chill and move faster.

Additionally, to get the chest you'll need the Omni-Tool Tier 2 Hammer and Shovel, so make sure to have those first before going on this expedition.

How to Get Frostbitten Key Walkthrough

Ice Cream Cart Entrance
To start, head over to the western side of the overturned ice cream cart. Enter the cart via the fallen ice cream cone tunnel next to some buckets of ice cream.

Tunnel Fork
After emerging from the other end of the ice cream cone, you'll find yourself in a set of icy tunnels. Keep walking until you reach a fork. Take the path to the left that exits into a large cavern (don't go deeper into the tunnels).

Go to Ice Cream Cone No. 2
As soon as you exit the tunnel, keep heading forward until you see 3 overturned ice cream cones. Drop down to ground level and make your way towards the 2nd ice cream cone.

Hang a Right After the Mint Chocolate Chip Mound
At the second cone, hang a right after you pass the mint chocolate chip ice cream mound.

Pass Beneath the Yellow Popsicle Sticks
Then, pass underneath the 2 yellow popsicles to reach the area containing the Frostbitten Key.

Warning: This area is filled with Northern Scorpions. Prepare yourself for a fight after you pass the yellow popsicles.

Body with Frostbitten Key
In this large area, you'll find a corpse to the left of the Real Science drop. If you can't find it, look for the soft purple glow emitted by the Ice Cream Cart Optical Disk at its feet.

Looting the Frostbitten Key
Once you find the corpse, loot the Frostbitten Key to its left.

Deeper Into the Ice Cream Truck

Backtracking to the Main Cavern
With the key in your possession, your next step is to find the Frostbitten Chest. The easiest way to do this is to retrace your steps until you arrive back at the large cavern with the 3 ice cones from earlier.

Return to the Base of the Spork
Once there, orient yourself in the direction of the large Spork and the yellow popsicles.

Then, start making your way to the base of the yellow popsicle next to the Spork.

Path to Polar Punch
You'll notice that this is the same location where you first entered the ice cream cart. Keep following the yellow posicles until you reach the area with the Polar Punch ice cream packet.

Polar Punch to Mint Choco Ice Cream Mound
Hop on top of the Polar Punch ice cream packet and look towards the slope made up of mint chocolate chip ice cream nearby.

Go to the top of the mint chocolate chip ice cream mound.

Cross the Pipe to Reach the Rotor Room
Once at the top of the mound, face right and you should see a long pipe. Use this pipe to reach the next area with the frozen rotor blades.

Breaking the Icicles
Upon arriving, head over to the base of the rotor blades. The gear used to turn them will be frozen in place by icicles. Use your Omni-Hammer to break all the icicles and allow the blades to rotate once more.

Go Down the Newly Opened Tunnel
As soon as the gear starts turning, wrap around to the back of the large contraption to see a newly opened passage that leads further into the cart.

Collect the 500 Raw Science directly in front of you before making your way down into the tunnels.

Hidden Passage Opposite the Mega Milk Molar
At the bottom of this vertical tunnel is a Mega Milk Molar. After you've obtained it, face in the opposite direction to find another hidden tunnel that leads deeper into the ice cream cart. Follow it until your reach a large open cavern.

Ice Sickles Cavern
This new cavern will have Ice Sickles right in the middle (lit up by a shaft of light). Ignore them for now and make your way to the back of the room where 2 banana peels flank a small alcove of seemingly bare snow.

Note: If you pull up the Ice Sickles, you'll start an event where you have to survive waves of scorpions in order to get the weapon.

Buried Treasure Location
Approach this patch of snow to see blue glints of light. These mark the location of the buried Frostbitten Chest. Use your Tier 2 Omni-Shovel to dig it up then unlock it using the Frostbitten Key.

Inside the Frosbitten Chest are 2 Mint Globs, which are used in crafting the dual-wield weapon, Ice Sickles.
