In the early game, your best bet for a reliable food source is roasted bug meat, which is both the fastest and easiest to acquire. You only need a Roasting Spit and raw meat from Weevils, Aphids, Gnats, and Grubs.
Two to three roasted bug meats are typically enough to sustain you for an entire in-game day. Just be mindful of roasting too many at once, as they spoil quickly and cannot be stockpiled.

What to Eat and Effects of Eating

Meals cooked in the Cookery in Grounded 2 are the most effective food choice for refilling your hunger meter. While not all meals directly restore health, each provides unique temporary buffs, such as increased damage, defense, or stamina regeneration.
To cook meals, you must first build a Cookery. The blueprint for the Cookery is unlocked by purchasing the Cooking 101 bundle from the Science Shop, which also includes the recipes for Gnatchos and Miteloaf. Leaving cooked meals on the Cookery can prevent it from getting spoiled.

Jerky is your best option if you want to stock up on food that will never spoil. You can make jerkies by hanging Weevils, Aphids, Gnats, and Grubs on a Jerky Rack. Using Spicy weapons, such as the Heatwave or Spicy Coaltana, will automatically roast the meat you acquire from killing edible creatures.

Grumble's Granola Bars, found in Ominent bases, can fill your hunger, but they're best saved for healing. They restore the most significant amount of health, making them a better choice for healing during boss fights than for general hunger.
