The Pinch Whacker is one of the best one-handed melee weapons for DPS, its Finale Short Circuit mod delivering a powerful shock blast on a 3-hit combo for added AoE. As a smashing weapon, it also inflicts high stun to disable enemies, coupled with its fast attack speed and strong per-hit damage.
Gloom Skewer

The Gloom Skewer is currently the best spear in the game. It has the same damage levels and attack speed as other spears, but it sports a higher critical strike chance.
Its enhanced charged attack deals increased damage and makes targets more vulnerable to stab damage, causing subsequent attacks to hit even harder.

The Spicy Coaltana is a melee sizzling weapon that deals decent damage and has a high critical hit rate. Its Sizzling Attack adds substantial spicy magic type damage, making it excellent for DPS against most foes except those resistant to Spicy.
The weapon can be obtained after defeating the Masked Stranger boss.
Mantis Blade

If you want an easier weapon to get before the boss, the Mantis Blade offers high raw damage and works great for Fighter builds.
It's also craftable after defeating a Praying Mantis, which can be taken down once you have a decent set of Tier 2 gear.

A dual-wield Fresh magic type weapon that excels with its constant Chilling Attacks, slowing and freezing enemies. This provides reliable crowd control and quickly dispatches targets with its high damage.
Wolfsbane Fangs

If you want to focus on high burst damage, the Wolfsbane Fangs are the best dual-wield choice. It has a high critical strike chance that is perfect for setting up sneaky dash strike critical hits with Mutations such as Assassin and Ambush.
With the right rogue build, you'll be able to instantly take out strong bugs with a few well-placed hits from these daggers.

The Heatwave Staff is a stronger variant of the Scorching Orb that reduces chill buildup with its combos. It also has a higher critical rate, which amps up its magic damage on top of its powerful Sizzling effects.
Glacial Sting

The Glacial Sting is currently the best staff you can equip for most encounters. Its Fresh magic damage is terrific for crowd control, especially against waves of enemies.
You can also partner it with either the Sizzling Armor for extra attack speed or use the Butterfly Set to gain a defensive barrier buff on a successful parry.

If you're looking for a bow with the best performance overall, the Wolf Stringer is the best option. It excels at delivering a constant stream of damage compared to the Bushwacker’s single-shot potential and boasts the highest stats of any bow in the game.

Mosquito Needle

The Mosquito Needle is the best weapon overall for the early game primarily due to its lifesteal, which allows you to regain HP when hitting and damaging enemies.
Mosquito Needle Stats and Crafting Materials
Make sure to kill the first mosquito you see while exploring and analyze its drops to unlock this recipe. Common spawning sites for mosquitoes are near the trash can to the south or on top of the picnic table.
Red Ant Club

The Red Ant Club is a great early weapon, and one of the best for the two-handed and smashing types. While it does hit slow and has low critical hit, the amount of stun damage it can inflict makes it great for stopping enemies in their tracks.
It only requires a small amount of Red Ant materials, Sap, and Crude Rope—all very easily obtained in the starting area, which makes it quite valuable for the effort it takes to obtain it.

Crimson Saber

The Crimson Saber can be your go-to for enemies that have Slashing as a weakness. While it is only a Tier 1 weapon, the ease of requirement to craft it (which can be completed by killing a few red ants) makes it a very accessible weapon while still providing decent stats for your slashing needs.

Scorching Orb

The Scorching Orb is an early game staff option for those going with mage builds. You fire projectiles that inflict the Sizzling ailment on enemies, which makes it a strong DPS staff.
You just need to kill a Stinkbug and analyze its drops to unlock its recipe. You can commonly find stinkbugs on the southwest side of the map, near the garbage can.
Spider Stringer

A good Tier 2 ranged option you get in the early game is the Spider Stringer. Since there are a lot of spiders near the oak tree, it's easy to get this bow early for bow builds.
